Chapter 13 The Binding Ceremony

     When I got up this morning the sun was bright, I was happy, everything started out good. Or as good as my luck will allow. Today i felt just slightly bad compared to the last month it made me very happy. I was so excited for this day. I finally have mt true love. I am having his children. I have my father back. I know the truth about myself. Over all it is shaping up to be a good day.

     Things happened very fast once everyone woke up. The little colony went from being a bunch of pretty houses and buildings to being beautifully decorated. No one knew me but by the time the ceremony started the whole colony had come to say hi and introduce themselves to me. Everyone said congratulations at least once.

     In the middle of the main street area they set up a large flower covered trellis. It was beautiful, covered all over with pink and purple roses. Where they got so many on such short notice I have no idea.

     Sarah brought me a dress to wear. It was very beautiful. It is light purple and fits me perfectly. Marcus is in a black suit with a purple shirt. He looked very good. I enjoyed watching him model it.

     Kara and Sarah told me a little about what to expect from the ceremony. I was so excited. For one moment I was sad because mom wasn't there but then I remembered the year I have had to go through to get to this point. Then I didn't care that she wasn't here.

Just before the ceremony started there was an issue. Kara got a call from the gate guard. There were five guys at the gate demanding to be let in and to talk to the leader. Right away I knew who it was. I was scared. I didn't know what to do. I was standing there listening to Kara talk to the gate guard and I just started shaking. How did they know I was here. I thought I made it up here fast enough that they couldn't follow. My dad went to Kara told her to let them in but we needed five minutes to get to the gate. Then he turned to me and Marcus and says point blank,"Don't ask questions. Don't say a word. Just run into Kara's house strip out of those clothes and get into the water pod." We did what we were told. we ran into the house Marcus helped me out of the dress then he stripped. he gave me a shirt and we went over to our water pod. Since it is a double we both fit in it with no problem. Once Marcus closed the lid the color changed and you couldn't tell it was there. We could hear everything going on outside but no one could hear us.

     "Okay everyone in order to get rid of these people for good we have to let them look around. Don't say anything about Megan. Sarah you need to go to your mother's house till they leave. I will go with you. Kara let them look around to a point. Make sure they believe they are seeing everyone. it's set up for a wedding so show them a couple. Bill and Amy your ceremony is next weekend, we will have a practice one today if that's okay with you. Lets get these people out of our lives and away from my daughter." Everyone agreed to do what he asked and then Sarah and Nathen went to her mom's house. And Kara went over and let the men in.

    " Good morning gentlemen my name is Kara how can I help you."" My name is Steven and these men are friends of mine. We are trying to find this young women. She has been missing for nine months now. Her mother is very worried about her. I am her boyfriend and I miss her. We were told a women fitting her description was seen walking up this mountain a few days ago. Have you or anyone here seen her. She was ill the last time she was seen so we really need to find her. Can I pass her picture among your people here maybe they have seen her!"" Yes you can pass around the picture. I myself have never seen this young women."" Can we take a quick look around? I see your in the middle of a celebration I don't want to bother you anymore than I have to."" Yes I ask that you not go into any of the houses as all the people are here on the lane."" I can agree to that. Guys fan out and look around. Don't go into the buildings."" Yes sir." 

     As I lay in the water listening to them talk I am shaking. trying not to make any noise because I an terrified they will find me. Marcus is laying next to me with his arms around me. "Try not to worry mother wont let them anywhere near you. No one here will tell them anything."" I know its just I have been running from them for so long I am so close to being happy. I am just afraid they are going to ruin everything."" Don't worry I have an idea. You remember Gary. The guy who brought you in yesterday. I have asked him to send them back to Washington. Just wait for it he will say it as soon as he get's the picture of you."" Okay I just want them out of here. I want to be free of them."" I know hang on.""

     And then Gary got the picture. He stepped up to Kara. " Excuse me guys I have seen this young lady. I gave her a ride yesterday. I took her to the Washington border. I was headed out there for my route and she asked me for a ride. She was walking and it was hot. So I took her as far as I could." "Thank you so much for that information. We will let you get back to your party. Come on boys lets go. It seems our girl is in Washington." Kara walked with them to the gate. They got in their cars and left. She told the guard to let them know right away if they came back. He said he would and then she called Nathen to give him the all clear.

    As we climbed out of the pod Nathen and Sarah came down the lane.  Marcus and I went back in the house to change our clothes. When that was done we went back out to the group. Nathen was thanking Gary for his help as well as everyone else. Then he gave me a hug. And said, "Okay everyone lets get back to the ceremony shall we." everyone cheered and we got back to work.

     When the ceremony started my father walked me down the lane to the little bridge. I thought it was funny everyone but a few people were shocked because he was my father. All he did was smile as we walked past. Then Ben started. "Welcome friends and family to the binding ceremony of Marcus and Megan. We have come together to celebrate the union of two lost souls.Now found and together once again. I am only here to make it official so I say,  By the water that restores us and the love that binds us I decree these souls bound as one. Let your love be known by all."

     And with that we were married or as they say bound and I was so happy. Thought I was starting to feel drained again. Everyone brought something to share, like for a pot luck. It is one way they show their happiness for the couple.  So there was plenty of food for everyone. I asked Kara to help me change out of the dress. I didn't want to ruin it. Then she helped me into the water. I didn't get into the pod instead there was a lawn chair in the water. Nobody cared about it they understood and congratulated us again. Many of the people came and talked to me. They were happy to get to know me. They didn't show me any hesitate in anyway to talk to us. some of the women even came over with other chairs to sit with us. Marcus was never far away. He gave me the time and space to get to know everyone but he was always close. Even my dad had fun.He told everyone about me and about the babies. He was just so proud. All in all it was a wonderful day.
