Chapter 30“So?” Tom Alan asked Erika as they lay once more on the bed on the living room floor, neither one about to sleep. “What now?”
“I only have to look at her,” Erika said quietly, “to do whatever she asks.”
“I feel the same way…tonight.”
“I’ll go to my room, so you can call Milo.”
“You seem rather calm and committed to all this.”
Erika shrugged after standing. “I’m getting the better end of the deal.” She offered an unconvincing smile. “I’m too…too everything to fight, Tom Alan. I give up. Billy and I haven’t really been back on track since you called—since he found out about Otousan’s wishes. Not really. It won’t be that hard for us. I’m getting the better end of the deal,” she repeated.
