“Oh my God! What are you doing?” I shouted at Nick, but the only answer I got was his kisses and caresses. I knew he was too drunk, which is why I tried to push him off me, but I couldn’t. So, I gave in to his charms.
It was my first time. I didn’t know what to do with this man—I truly desired him deeply.
“Nick, you’re drunk. You’ll regret this in the morning,” I whispered.
Nick was completely out of his mind. He didn’t respond to my words; he just kept kissing me relentlessly.
He kissed my neck, then my lips, until he entered me deeply. I stretched my hands over the headboard as I lay on my back and Nick was on top of me. The only sounds that followed were our shared moans.
“Oh Nick, you’re amazing,” I said, though he didn’t seem to be listening.
After making love, Nick fell asleep instantly. I stayed up for a long while, just watching him. My dream had come true.
The next morning.
“What the hell happened here?!” Nick shouted, clearly agitated.
“You don’t remember what happened?” I asked, stunned.
“Oh God. That must be the only way I’d sleep with you—completely drunk.”
“Your words hurt me, Nick,” I said, disappointed.
“I don’t care about your disappointment. I don’t want to see you ever again, understood?”
“That’s going to be hard since we’re married,” I replied flatly, crossing my arms.
“You’re right about that. But let me be clear—this was the first and last time you’ll ever sleep with me.”
“I didn’t even enjoy it. You don’t know how to treat a woman,” I said while getting up, still wrapped in the sheets.
“What the hell did you just say?” he shouted, stepping toward me.
“I repeat, sir—I didn’t enjoy it. I’ve been with much better men, and at least they didn’t think they were God’s gift to women,” I said, looking him straight in the eyes.
“Allow me to laugh. Ha!”
“Laugh all you want. Now please, leave my room. You were the one who came to me.”
“Mark the date, because I won’t step foot in here again,” he said before slamming the door behind him.
Damn Nick. First he comes to me, makes love to me, then insults me? If he thinks that will make me feel bad, he’s wrong. I’ll make sure to throw his words right back at him.
An hour later, I went downstairs. Just before I could leave, I heard Nick’s voice.
“Where are you going?” he asked, reading the newspaper.
“I’m going to the pharmacy.”
“No need for that,” he said, lifting his eyes.
“Why not?”
“Because I’m sterile, miss,” he said as he walked toward me.
“I’m sorry. That must be terrible for you.”
“It was… not anymore,” he said as he shoved his hands in his pockets.
“I’m really sorry. Every man like you dreams of having kids. But there are many ways nowadays,” I said, looking into his eyes.
“Let’s not talk about it anymore. Tonight, we’re having dinner with my mother.”
“Alright, sir,” I replied with a faint smile.
“Please dress appropriately. This is a business dinner, and my wife can’t be the least put-together one there.”
“Understood, sir,” I said, though deep inside I wanted to strangle him for his constant disdain.
Nick and I left the mansion at the same time. I stayed behind, waiting for a taxi, while watching him drive off with Jorge.
After waiting a long time, I finally caught a cab and went straight to my mother’s house.
“Hi mom, how are you?”
“I’m good—better now that I see you,” my mother said with a big smile.
“Girl, what are you doing here?” Donna asked, giving me a hug.
“I need your help. I have a business dinner at Nick’s mother’s house, and I need your styling skills,” I said desperately.
Without giving it too much thought, we went shopping. I wanted to look my best for that dinner with my husband…
That evening, I was back at the mansion, doing my makeup and getting dressed. The nanny came in to tell me Nick was waiting and that if I didn’t hurry, he’d leave me behind—so I rushed downstairs.
As I walked down the staircase, I saw the look on Nick’s face change. He didn’t expect to see me dressed like that. I was wearing a red off-shoulder gown with a side slit that showed part of my thigh.
“I’m ready,” I said as I approached him.
“It’s about time. We’re going to be late.”
We got in the car, and honestly, Nick wasn’t the least bit chivalrous until we arrived at his mother’s house.
“Here, miss, you’ll need to behave like a loving wife,” he said as we walked to the front door.
“Of course, sir,” I replied, keeping my gaze forward.
Inside, there were many elegant and well-groomed people. Many stared at us in surprise. Some came over to compliment Nick on having such a beautiful wife.
“Hello, my dear son!” Glenys said with a wide smile.
“Hi, mom. How are you?”
“All’s well, son. And you, my lovely daughter-in-law, how are you?” she asked warmly.
“I’m very well, and I can see you are too!”
Suddenly, a guest interrupted.
“Good evening. Nick, it’s great to see you,” said a stranger.
“Thanks. Same to you,” Nick replied with a blank expression.
“I stopped by because I really wanted to meet your beautiful wife.”
“This is Alice,” Nick said, not sounding too thrilled.
“Pleasure to meet you, Alice. I’m Alexis.”
“The pleasure’s mine, Alexis,” I said with a big smile.
I could tell Nick was uncomfortable with that man’s presence.
