Aaron had blacked out minutes ago and was at the mercy of death.
He didn't feel anything else but cold. The ice cold spreading slowly the the rest of his body. Any second now, he'd give in and although he was out cold, he was sure of this.
But the seconds began spilling out into minutes, and all he did in his stark black vision was wait patiently.
But as time passed by, he knew that death had just turned a blind eye on him. He then felt life being breathed into him, and felt the similar feeling of cold air stinging his face.
His eyes opened for half a second and he saw the ocean and the sky meeting.
His eyes opened again and he saw a strange figure he couldn't make out. Could it be a dolphin? A seal? He really couldn't tell and his eyes shut once more.
After a stretch of time he couldn't figure, he felt fresh air filling his lungs that were once burnt from the lack of air. He felt his body spring slowly back to life. And he felt alive, more alive now that he had expeienced being at deaths door.
His eyes finally cooperated with him to stay open, he immediately looked in the direction he felt a figure staring at him from.
A ridge stood openly at its head and from it's initial features, he could tell that it was no dolphin. It was much too alien to him.
"Hello?" He said with all the strength he could muster up. And as those words left his lips, the strange figure fretted in the water, obviously rattled by his voice.
"Nautas." He vaguely heard the creature say before it attempted to leave.
"No, don't leave." He croaked out but the strange animal dived down and left with the swat of it's tail on the water.
If the circumstances were different, he'd at least identified the marine animal that had saved his life.
But for now...
He laid on the sea sand and rested his eyes.

When dawn arrived, the staff that came out to begin work had noticed him lying face down at the edge of the beach.
The staff refused to turn a blind eye brought him in and immediately ushered him inside.
Soon enough he got admitted to the infirmary, they tended the wounds he acquired. After tending to him, the doctors got all the information they needed from him and realised that he was the sailor who was thought to have drowned at sea.
But before they informed the staff of this, they immediately contacted his family.
Aaron couldn't wait to see his father once he had woken up, now he had to tell him how much he really meant to him. Being involved in a shipwreck had just changed his whole outlook on a lot of things.
But still, as he awaited the arrival of his father, the memory of the being that had saved his life haunted him. He was just so eager to know what happened.
Something or someone had managed to untie the thick net caught on his foot and swam him out to safety. He even got a glimpse at his saviour or dare he say... guardian angel that saved him when he needed it most.
His OCD had started knocking him in his head. He knew that he'd have trouble sleeping from now on if he didn't find out what had saved him from a unfortunate death.
Once his tiny family that only consisted of his father and his sister that was now heavily expecting and her husband finally arrived, his heart ached.
And now, looking at them for the first time in what seemed like years. The feelings were just too much for him to handle and he had no choice but to let out all his bottled up emotions.
His sister, Eleanor who he seniored by two years, wept out heavily. And he hugged her despite his pained body.
"It's okay now. Don't cry." He said rubbing her back to comfort her. He smiled at this, how he had to comfort her for the pain stricken state he was in.
"Aaron, I thought you... you didn't come back with the sailors. They told us you drowned with the sinking boat." His sister squeezed his hand as she spoke.
"I did sink with the boat but someone - something had pulled me to safety." He answered honestly.
"Probably dolphins." Dean, Eleanor's husband inputted. His face was distraught and he obviously felt the sad pull the room reaked.
"I thought so too, but I... I don't know what it was. But it saved my life." Aaron said and his father looked down at him, his eyes shining.
"Son, I have never in my life, imagined any of my children in such a life threatening situation. I would have never accepted losing another person I Ioved in a million years. At least not at sea like your mother did." He stopped mid sentence to swallow a lump lodged in his throat.
"And I'd never want to put you in situation where you'd lose someone again dad." Aaron held his father's hand.
"I know, it wasn't your fault. Don't put the blame on yourself." His father declared. "I just thought you'd know that when I heard the news about what happened, a little part of me died."
He said and Aaron, who had never seen his father cry, watched his father wipe a tear off his face. And before he knew it, a tear of his own left his face.
