I called my parents as soon as we sat down to figure out what was going on because they have never done this before. I had called my dad seeing as he is the one who deals with the money more than mom. He answered *Hey son how is school going?* I jumped right in by asking *why am I getting different food than the rest of the kids here other than Alley?* he looked at me confused. *What do you mean different food than the rest of the kids and who is Alley?* *Don't play games dad they told me that my parents paid for the school to get a good cook to make food for me and any other deaf kids that go to this school. What is this all about?* He looked like he was talking to someone off-camera and I'm glad that I don't have it where anyone can hear what is being said because I would have gotten in big trouble if they would have heard what was said. *The Alpha did it because as he said the kid of the beta deserves the best. I promise son I had nothing to do with this and I had told him from the get-go that we didn't need any special treatment but he went behind my back and did this because he said he won't take no for an answer.* *But why only the two of us? Why not the other kids?* this was not giving me any answers it was just confusing me even more. *We will talk about this more when you get home son. We cant have a proper conversation with other kids around you that know asl.* he said then hung up. I looked at Alley who was confused but pretending that she wasn't watching me talk to my dad. She was also moving the food around the plate probably feeling guilty that the other kids at the table were jealous. I tapped her shoulder *my dad said it was to make up for the fact that I was moved away from all of my friends and away from everything that I was used to.* She looked at her friends then said *that doesn't explain why it's just us and not the other kids in the school.* *I know but he was told by the school that if all the kids got the same food as us a lot of the lunchroom staff would be out of jobs. Trust me I don't like it either but there is nothing that I can do. It's done and he's not going to change his mind.* She looked at her friends and I watch as all of them tell her one way or another that she shouldn't feel bad because she needs to be treated special because she is whether she thinks it or not. That confused me because now that I'm not focused on class or figuring out what the hell was going on with the food thing I took a deep breath and realized that everyone was a werewolf. I don't smell one human at all. I know that we just joined the Blood Haven pack but I didn't realize that Havens Port was a town for nothing but werewolves. I opened my mindlink just to listen and everyone said hi or hey to me. I watched as a few people looked my way when they talked with the mind link even some of Alley's friends. That's when I noticed that they were trying to talk to me using asl. *Finally you are paying attention. Is the whole food thing bothering you that much? If so don't worry about it we all understand that you can't stop your parents from doing what they want.* I shook my head *yea sorry about spacing out I'm not used to people wanting to talk to me much at school. My friends didn't talk to me at school because they didn't want to be made fun of for hanging out with the "outcast" of the school.* They all looked pissed and Cadence was the first to talk *they had no right to call you an outcast just because your ears don't work. You are still a person not an alien. That makes me mad that people do that.* I looked at Alley and she looked at me with understanding in her eyes. *Lunch is almost over and we have gym next. So be ready to be worked to death.* Alley said laughing. I wish I could hear her laugh I bet it's beautiful. just then I heard laughing in my head and I looked over at her friends. They smiled and looked at Alley then I realized that I forgot to put the block back up and the whole pack heard me. [Thank you] I said then put the block back up. I noticed all the kids getting up so I figured that the bell rang to say that it was the end of lunch. We walked to gym class and Alley tapped my arm *don't worry about the food thing I will get used to it. I was just confused that's all.* I nodded at her then said *I have to get used to having people around who want to talk to me. I'm used to just my parents talking to me every day.* I wasn't lying that was what I was used to in my old school and the pack. Just then Dani walked up to us and looked at us *how was lunch?* Alley told her what happened and Dani said *I know what you mean I got a meal made by the new cook and was also told that I no longer have to pay for it.* *That is so confusing that we are the only ones that get that.* Alley said. We got to the gym before Dani could answer but Alley turned to me and said *We need to go change but you need to go talk to the gym teacher because you need gym clothes. I will see you after I change.* she turned and walked away. Dani and I walked up to the gym teacher and he went to go get my clothes then showed me where the locker rooms were. I went in to change and the guys looked at me then I felt the pressure of someone trying to talk through the mindlink so I opened it. [It's nice to finally meet you Beta.] they all said at the same time. [I'm not the beta yet and seeing as the Alpha doesn't have a kid I don't know what will happen] I told them. I turned to my clothes then changed I didn't put the block back up yet because I wanted to see what everyone would say. [He doesn't know does he?] someone said. [I don't think he does.] [I can still hear yall so what is that I don't know?] I said in the mind link. They all got very quiet after that and I couldn't help but laugh [but seriously what is it that I don't know and haven't been told.] But everyone shut me out and that pissed me off so badly that I couldn't think but I can't think about it now I'm in gym class. I get changed and walk back to the gym. I walk up to Alley *Hey so what do we do now?* *We sit and wait for the teacher to tell us what we are going to do today.* So we sit and talk as we wait for the gym teacher.
