Mark lifted her hand to his lips and kissed it softly. “Thank you.” Meg experienced a rush of sensations and put her free hand to her head, suddenly lightheaded. She opened her eyes, which she didn’t remember closing and blinked against the sun’s brightness. Mark still held her hand, but they were no longer sitting in the cave, they were back in the park. “Thank you!” a small voice called. It was the little boy with the red and yellow shirt and brown hair, skipping away from the ice cream man with his treat. No time had passed at all. Everything was exactly as it was, before she found herself in her dream world. She struggled to piece together what had happened. Their magical interlude seemed too real to have only played out in her head. Besides, could she have imagined the entire thing
