Most of the time when I’m not in my cubicle, I’m in the computer room learning how to write COBOL and FORTRAN computer code and using the IBM punch cards. Brooke and Carl are teaching me the basics. They are both so smart, but I think Brooke is smarter than he is. She knows how to teach me this stuff better, that’s for sure. I have one goal—make enough money to pay for the car. After that, I plan to quit again.
At lunch, Roy and I played a game of chess in the breakroom. He won.
I can’t begin to wrap my mind around all these books, so after work I took Mike for a ride on my motorcycle around Lakewood. I hadn’t ridden it in more than a month and it felt great. Mike pointed out all sorts of places and interesting facts about them. Some were so wild, I figured he was making stuff up.
