It’s Independence Day. I’m on the front porch with the typewriter. It’s warm already this morning and it feels good. Banners and flags are flapping from porches and flag poles. Some kids rode by on their bikes with red, white, and blue crepe paper woven through the spokes. I could tell how patriotic they are by the streamers in their handle grips. I once felt like that, but now, I feel deceived by my government.
