Everyone showed up late to work except me. I got no sleep but was at work by eight. People filtered in all day. I had a large coffee from Betty’s Coffee Shop, which is a nice little restaurant. Brooke was the first to arrive after me. We sat on the steps talking and waited for anyone with a key to arrive to open the front door. She’s from Montpelier, Vermont. Her boyfriend, who is from Syracuse, works at the Prendergast Library. When Roy arrived, he had a few boxes of candies from Betty Dixon’s. My favorite were the chocolate turtles. I had three. I caught a second wind and got a lot of work done early on, but after lunch, I nearly fell asleep reading a stack of material about headphones and stereo music and a survey from one hundred high school kids about cassettes and headphones.
