Was She Unmarried?

1083 Words
A girl was sleeping on the bed. Her long red hair spread on the pillow behind her. Her pink lips formed a small pout as if she was upset with something. A button nose, small chin and her closed eyes...Rayan stared at her silently for a few moments until he seemed to realise that it was indecent of him. The moment he realised this, he looked away. His eyes filled with slight surprise, as if he had never expected that he would do such a thing one day. Taking a deep breath, he composed himself. Then he again looked around the hut. There was no other room. Was she alone inside this hut? Rayan frowned. Who brought him here? Not having someone to answer his questions, he walked slowly to the only window of the hut. His frown only went deeper when he looked outside. The weather seemed to be bad. But that was not the case. It was the realisation that the hut was completely isolated. Where exactly was he? In the end, he could only walk back to the same wooden board and lay down there. He felt a little weak. The pain inside his chest was also returning. Rayan put his elbow on his forehead and decided to sleep for some time. He would question the girl when she would wake up. He needed to go back and continue what he had been doing. With these thoughts, he had just fallen asleep when he felt a touch on his arm. It was a reflex action for him. Being a martial artist for so many years, he was trained to resist an unseen touch because it could belong to an enemy. Hence, when Rayan twisted Aria's hand behind her back and suddenly switched their position, it was out of reflex. "Ah!" A scream full of fear escaped Aria's lips. Her brown eyes were completely wide with shock and at this moment she was lying under him. On the other hand, Rayan's looked completely emotionless. His eyes had a killing intent and his other hand was already on Aria's neck. Aria was trembling under his gaze. It was only when he realized that she was the same girl he had seen before going to sleep that he relaxed a little. Slowly, he let go of her and Aria took the opportunity immediately. She came out of his hold and walked far away from him to stand in a corner of the room. Her eyes stared at him cautiously, and she held her hand, which hurt a little now because of how he twisted it. While Rayan wiped his face with his hand and took a deep breath. After that, his eyes went to Aria. Looking at her trembling form, he looked away again and cursed in a low voice. 'You b******d...' Then he composed himself and looked at her again. Then in a very calm yet gentle voice he said "I didn't mean to do it. I ...I thought it was an enemy. I will not harm you."...as long as you don't harm me. He said the unfinished words in his own mind. She, however, still seemed scared. Rayan cursed himself some more. He didn't know that his frustrated expressions were scaring her more. His eyes went to her hand which she was holding. The wrist was already red. He frowned in confusion. This...he didn't use that much force. Was she so fragile... In his speechlessness, he tried to get up from the wooden board to take a look at her hand, but hissed at the sharp pain that came from his wound. The pain forced him to inhale sharply and sit back. A moment later, he opened his eyes, feeling a touch on his hand again. There she stood in front of him with eyes full of concern. "He Lan Weriya?" (Are you alright?) So soft...her voice was so soft and low. He didn't even understand what she was saying. Rayan frowned in confusion. He knew the language of Ulrik's people. Did he reach somewhere else? Seeing the concern in her eyes, he put aside her doubts and said to assure her. "I am fine." He said in a gentler voice than before. Aria also didn't know what the man was saying. The only thing she understood was that his eyes went to her hand again that was placed in his. Her eyes went wide remembering what he had done before, and she instantly took it back. "Li Hontey" (I apologise!) She said and moved away from him again. Rayan looked at her in confusion, not understanding why she looked so panicked all of a sudden and what she was saying. "What happened?" He asked in confusion but still in a gentle voice. However, she shook her head and said "Kewe?" (What?) Rayan closed his eyes, understanding that she couldn't understand him and he couldn't understand her. That was only more addition to his current problems. How should he ask where he was? He would need to find it on his own. He raised his head when he saw her walking away. As he sat in the same place, he saw her going near the stove. It was her kitchen perhaps, but it was so small. He watched silently as she took some plants from a cloth bag and then started grinding them on a stone. Seeing that she was busy, he laid down on the wooden board, careful not to hurt his wound again, silently sat and looked at her again. Watching someone busy in their work gives such peace...He never knew it. He raised his eyebrows when she got up with the paste of those leaves and walked to him. Knowing that she wouldn't understand what he would say, he could only see her silently as she pointed towards his wound and then towards the paste. She wanted to apply it to his wound. Rayan understood and nodded his head. He was about to sit up so that he could take the bowl of paste from her hands, but he was left surprised when she sat by his side and then started applying the paste on her own with her soft fingers. It was wrong. He had wanted to say. A lady can't touch a man like this....especially an unmarried lady. Her virtue could be questioned. But then Rayan's mind was suddenly stuck on one question. 'Was she unmarried?' Please vote, share and comment if you like the story.
