Chapter 2 Miss is missing

717 Words
At 2 a.m., at the entrance of a luxurious villa, a shadow was pacing back and forth. Suddenly, the shadow dashed forward quickly and was spotted by the security guard on duty due to the loud footsteps. Several security guards asked in unison, "Who is it? Just who is it?" Hearing the voices, the shadow fled even faster, quickly opening the outermost door and sprinting away. Inside the door, several voices could be heard, saying, "Come quickly, we've got a thief! You guys, chase after him." "What happened?" Preston, who heard the sound first, quickly got dressed and hurried to the hall, asking the group of security guards. The originally dark villa instantly lit up, with Mrs. Emma, Mason, and all the maids and security guards arriving at the hall. "Sir, something's wrong, there's a thief." The on-duty security guards all spoke out at once. "Then why not go chase after them right away?" Preston said sternly. If they don't chase a thief, what are they standing here for? We're just feeding a bunch of good-for-nothings, all of them wine-sipping, food-gobbling good-for-nothings. The lead security guard said in a low voice, "Sir, we've already sent ten people to chase after him." “Ten? That’s too few. Add ninety more and quickly catch the thief.” Panson ordered with a stern face. “Yes.” Immediately, ninety security guards rushed outside. “Oof.” A female voice came from the stairs. Panson and his group turned back to look at the maid who made the sound, asking irritably, “What’s wrong?” The maid spoke nervously, "Th... the miss is missing." Upon hearing this, everyone in and around the hall froze. Preston seemed disbelieving, "Missing? What do you mean? Did you search carefully?" The maid, clearly very afraid of Preston, spoke in an increasingly small voice, "I... I searched all the rooms in the room and on the first floor, but I still couldn't find the miss." Panston's expression turned cold, and his tone dropped to minus thirty degrees: "From now on, you all need to quickly search everywhere, even if it means digging up the earth to find Ran for me." Then he went to the music room. As soon as he finished speaking, everyone went to search for Catherine. An hour later, they all returned empty-handed, and Panston's expression grew darker and darker. Mrs. Emma asked anxiously, "Was she caught by the kidnapper?" Panston's handsome face instantly darkened upon hearing this: "Immediately gather five thousand people to catch the thieves. Make sure the young lady is brought back unharmed. No one is allowed to sleep tonight. Leave five hundred people to guard the house, and the rest should all go out to find the young lady." The thief was simply too bold to have captured his precious daughter. Once he caught the thief, he would make sure to teach him a lesson properly and then quickly ran out. Cut to: The shadow dashed out of the main gate and ran quickly forward, not daring to stop even for a moment. Hearing the footsteps approaching from behind, the shadow panicked and increased their speed of escape. They had finally managed to escape from home, and they didn’t want to start their beautiful life of freedom only to be brought back home. Although home was good in every way, it lacked freedom. All she wanted was freedom. Thinking this, she accelerated again. This girl is the one the Preston family is looking for, Catherine. Catherine kept running without stopping, but she was after all a woman, and her stamina was inferior to that of a man. After running a long distance, she finally ran out of breath. Looking around, she was relieved—no one was yet in pursuit! With her current stamina, she knew she would be caught soon, as she was nearly out of breath. But she didn’t want to be captured and brought back. What should she do now? According to her escape plan, if she got tired, she could find a place to rest, preferably in a hidden, dark spot. Catherine carefully scanned her surroundings and spotted a bridge arch not far away. The arch was very dark. "Okay, then I’ll hide in the bridge arch," she said, dragging her exhausted body toward it.
