Jacob, who had been watching Catherine intently, immediately checked the elevator's security camera footage after she got on the elevator and asked the man on the bed, "Where do you think she's going?"
"Tip her off? Send someone to follow her." The man lying on the bed glanced indifferently at Catherine on the television, his tone as cold as ever.
"Understood," Jacob replied casually, then made a phone call, gave a few instructions, and then stared at the camera again.
Catherine stared at the elevator listlessly for a while, finding nothing special about it except that it looked like a box, until a "ding" sound came from inside and the elevator doors slowly opened to both sides.
Catherine glanced around casually, then walked out and looked at the building outside. "Huh? Why isn't this the lobby from yesterday?" Catherine asked in surprise. Had she taken the wrong elevator? Maybe. Oh well, she probably hadn't even left the Imperial Holiday Hotel yet. She'd better look around first!
Before her eyes stretched a vibrant green meadow, glistening with dewdrops. Catherine stepped onto the dew-kissed ground, a ray of sunlight illuminating the ground beside her. Ahead lay what appeared to be a garden, and Catherine, curious, walked towards it.
It's early summer now, and the garden is filled with orchids, peonies, jasmine, hibiscus, lilies, impatiens, and other flowers that bloom in summer, each with its own unique charm.
"How beautiful!" Catherine exclaimed. The outside world was truly wonderful. She felt as if she had the whole world now, a sense of freedom filling her entire being: "This is life!"
She skipped and jumped excitedly in the garden, singing: "Just once, I'll take you to see the end of time, to laugh heartily in the bright sunshine, to bicker and make noise in the free air, do you know that's all I want..."
While in the hospital, Jacob watched Catherine on TV and asked the man still lying in bed, "She sings well. This girl is really something else. She can have so much fun by herself in the garden. She's so special. Do you think I should ask her to be your girlfriend?"
The man lying on the bed didn't turn around, but closed his eyes and replied indifferently, "Keep it for yourself!"
Jacob was getting agitated: "Hey, I've known you for so many years, and this is the first time I mention women. You don't actually like men, do you?"
The man on the bed's tone instantly plummeted: "I like you." Yeah, right! Although he's not young anymore and has never thought about having a girlfriend, that doesn't mean he has a problem with his s****l orientation, really. For all these years, his only condition for a woman has been that she can steal the heart of his woman; he'll give her the whole world. But he hasn't met her yet.
Jacob froze upon hearing those four words: "Are you serious?" he asked naively, then replied, "I like you too, hahahahahaha." He'd known him for ten years, and this was the first time he'd ever seen him joke. He never expected someone to joke so seriously; it almost made him believe it. Luckily, they were longtime best friends, but given how utterly disgusted this guy was with women, it wasn't surprising he liked men. He just didn't know if he was the top or the bottom, but considering their years of friendship, he could find him the most special man, haha.
"Stop that disgusting smile." The man on the bed looked at Jacob's lewd grin and his tone dropped another thirty degrees. Don't think he didn't know what this kid was thinking. Trying to find him a man? No way!
Upon hearing his words, Jacob's expression immediately turned serious, as if everything that had just happened was an illusion.
Camera transition:
Over here, after strolling around the garden, Catherine's eyes involuntarily landed on a swing. Good heavens, there's a swing in the garden?
Catherine walked briskly to the swing, sat down gracefully, and began to swing.
