Elvia's POV
"Try and get me haha," I said.
"Ah come on Elvy, you know I can't climb trees. It's too big" a little girl replied.
"You have to try Alice. Trust me, if you forget about everything and just focus on the tree, you will climb it" I replied with a smile.
"Hmmm. Okay! I'll try it" Alice said as she started to focus.
She stood still for a few seconds and then jumped and tried to climb. She climbed a few feet and that put a big smile on my face.
"Nooo. I can't climb higher, it's too scary Elvy" Alice said before she dropped back down and fell to the ground.
I quickly jumped down from the tree branch and approached her.
"You were so close Alice. You almost had it. You just had to push forward" I uttered.
"Easy for you to say, your 7 and I'm 5. Two years difference. I'm sure when you were my age, you were scared of climbing trees" Alice said with weak eyes.
"Actually, I would always try to climb the trees every day until I could reach the top" I replied while patting Alice on the head.
"Well, no fair!" Alice shouted while looking away.
"Girls! Come in! Lunch is ready!" a woman shouted in the distance.
"Oh that's Mum calling us for lunch, we should get back before it gets cold," I told Alice.
"Race you to the house! I won't lose this time!!" Alice shouted with determination as she took off running. I saw Alice running back as fast as she can. "Oh Alice, you always want to win haha" I laughed as I tried to catch up to her.
We both ran through the bright green fields of the forest. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon and the forest looked more alive than any other day.
Adventuring out in the forest and playing games is what I and Alice did every day and it filled us with joy.
We arrived at home and saw Mum ready with Lunch.
"There you are you two. You sure went far today" Mother asked as we all sat down and started eating.
"We sure did mummy. Elvia took me out into the Forests and was teaching me how to climb the trees" Alice said with a joyous expression.
"Wow. It looks like you want to be brave like your big sister" Mother replied. "Of course. Only thing is, I was too scared. It felt so scary climbing up so high" Alice said with an embarrassed face.
"I'm sure if we keep trying every day, you won't feel scared. I promise. That's how I learnt from Mum" I said to Alice.
"That's right. Elvia was having trouble with heights but she soon got over it and now she can climb anything" Mother explained.
Alice looked at me and smiled. We continued on eating and soon we finished up.
Once we finished we were talking about random things for the next 20 minutes.
"Okay now that lunch is done, you two have some house cleaning to do," Mum said while handing us a dustpan and broom.
"Ahhhhh come on, I want to adventure the woods, not clean around the house," Alice said with a bored expression.
"Yeah she's right, why do we need to clean the house, it looks clean anyway" I added in.
"It may look clean now but when you start cleaning, you'll see how much dust is everywhere," mum said.
"When you finish cleaning then you can run out and play" she added.
"Okay, fineeee," we both said with a sigh.
It took about 2 hours to clean the house until it was sparkling.
"I think we did a good job huh Alice," I say feeling quite accomplished.
"Yeah for sure. Mum's gonna be so proud of us" Alice replied.
We both ran to the door so we could go and play outside. "Mum we finished! We're gonna go play now!" I shouted as we headed out into the forest. We both reached the middle of the forest, where most of the trees were. It was about 4:30 in the day and the sun was still shining.
We finally made It to the trees.
"Okay Alice, wanna try again," I say.
"Yeah! I got this!" she said fiercely.
She took a run up and that gave her a boost which helped her attach to the tree. "Oh nice work Alice, keep climbing," I said.
She used her legs and arms simultaneously and started to climb more upwards.
"AHHH!!" she gasped as her leg slipped and she was hanging on with her arms. "Elvy!! Helppp meee!!" Alice pleaded.
"Alright, don't scream. Come here" I say before catching her on my back.
She got to the ground and looked quite frightened. "I almost fell Elvia. That was close... I don't like this game anymore. I wanna play a different game" Alice tugged on me.
"Okay okay, how about hide and seek?" I suggested.
"Yeah! That! I wanna play that!" Alice excitedly said. "Sure thing. Who's seeking?" I asked.
"You seek. I'll hide hehe" Alice said with a cheeky grin.
"Okay haha. Make sure you pick a good spot or ill find you pretty quick" I replied. And with that, she ran off into the woods, leaving me to start counting.
Alice's POV
I ran as fast as I could through the woods. "I've got a new secret hiding spot this time hehe," I said to myself with a grin. "This time, she won't find me. I'll hide under the ditch I found a few days ago. She'll never look there" I said in my head with gleaming eyes.
I headed for the secret ditch which was located a little further north. It took me about 10 minutes to reach there. When I got there I saw it. I jumped in and hid under it which made me practically invisible. Anyone walking here would never notice me.
I sat there playing with some grass and stones on the ground while I waited for Elvia...
It had been about 25 minutes since I started hiding and I was starting to get slightly bored.
Elvia's POV
"Wow, she really picked a good hiding place, I'm impressed. Where would she be???
If I were her, where would I go? It's already been 30 minutes and I still can't find her, hmm. I need to pick up the pace" I said out loud while searching for her.
Alice's POV
"Maybe I picked a hiding spot that's a little too hard" I laughed.
"Maybe I should get up and try and see where she is at least" I proposed to myself.
I got up out of the ditch and tried to see if she was close. Just then, I heard a snap of a twig.
"Huh," I said as I turned around to see.
What I saw was definitely alive...
My face turned pale as I started to get scared...
It was a leopard! It was about ten feet away from me, standing there with a menacing glare.
"Oh no! No no no! I don't like leopards, their scary..." I said frightened with a tear forming in my eyes. The leopard began to advance forward as it looked like it wanted to attack.
"Aaaaaah" I shouted as I panicked. I couldn't run, since it would catch up to me easily. My heart was pounding as a few tears fell from my eyes.
Without thinking I grabbed the tree and dug my fingernails into the tree. I put in all my effort and I started climbing. I wasn't even thinking, because I was so afraid of the leopard. The leopard immediately dashed towards me and tried to bite me. Fortunately, I was a little higher.
I felt relieved for a few seconds, however, I noticed him backing away and it seemed to be taking a run-up!
"No no no! I need to climb more. Quickly Alice quick!!" I shouted to myself. I moved my legs and arms and kept ascending up the tree. I managed to grab a branch and I pulled myself up and sat up there.
The leopard still tried jumping and tried to get to where I was. It kept on growling repeatedly.
"Wait... How... How am I gonna get back down..." I said slowly.
Realising I couldn't and I was stuck up there, I began to cry.
"Elviaaaaa!!! Elviaaaaaa!!! Help meeee!!!" I cried out loud shouting hoping she was close by.
Elvia's POV
"Huh!!! Is that Alice!. She's shouting for me! I need to run" I said as I immediately started running to her voice. It seemed like she was close. I kept sprinting in the direction and the closer I got, it sounded like she was crying.
I jumped over the bushes, turned a few corners and I managed to find her!
"Alice!!! Where are you!!! Elvia's here!" I shouted. As I did I saw her up on the tree. And to my surprise I saw a leopard there. "What's a leopard doing here?" I said.
"Elviaaa!! I'm up here! Make the bad leopard go away" she cried.
The leopard focused its gaze upon me, but luckily I knew how to deal with them.
"Go away! Now!" I shouted firecly as I stomped onto the ground and walked towards the leopard. The leopard backed away slowly.
"Now!!" I shouted again. I walked more quickly which drove the leopard away into the forest.
After he had been dealt with I focused my attention to Alice.
"Alice! You okay!" I said to her who seemed scared.
"I can't get down Elvy. I need help" she pleaded.
I just realised she actually climbed the tree herself which brought a smile to my face.
"Alice you climbed this tree on your own. That means you can get back down" I said to her.
"I dunno... I'm so high up. It's too scary" she replied.
"I know you can do this. Trust me. Just clear your mind. Focus everything on the tree and climb down just like I taught you earlier today" I encouraged her.
She replied with a frightened expression but her face turned serious.
"Your right! I can do this. I'm the Queen Alice. I can do anything" she shouted.
Her reply brought a huge smile to my face.
She listened and slowly grabbed onto the tree, used her arms and legs and eventually slid down. She ended up hitting the ground with a slight thud but got up immediately.
"I did itttt Elvy" she shouted with a massive bright smile.
"I knew you could Aly. You're stronger than you think" I said giving her a huge warming hug.
"Hehee, I'm the besttt. Now to prove I'm the best, I need to beat you in a race to the house" she grinned as she took of running.
I laughed as she ran off.
"Oh Aly, you'll never change haha" I laughed as I ran.
