I am all out of breath. I still have my hat on, for I dashed into the house and ran straight up the stairs. You will never guess what happened to me today!
I saw Louisa!
It was dreadful. Lady Durand was not with her, but I had the most terrible shock. It was at the milliner’s. I was picking up a hat for Catherine that I am going to retrim, since the color really does not suit her complexion but she was determined to have it anyway, as the shape is the same as one she left back at Wansdyke.
Louisa was coming into the shop as I was leaving. She was shocked to see me. I thought I looked particularly well today in one of my new dresses, but Louisa was rude and said I looked pale and wan. I am sure I did not look pale and wan! She was probably annoyed that I looked as well as I did
