CHAPTER 6: UNSAFE SPACE

Allison's POV "Oh my word, why did I agree to that?" The thought rang in my head as a deep seethed feeling of regret rushed over me. It seemed too late to say anything more, as at the time I was already seated in his car, looking out of the window, avoiding staring at him. I chose to stay in the back seat for that exact purpose. My eyes although could not help going back and forth from the internal mirror to the window. I could not help it; watching him drive and his strong hands on the stirring wheel was filled with so much allure. It caused flutters in my chest just staring. "No. Don't fall for this anymore. Remember what happened to you today and two years ago? Remember that?" I reprimanded myself in my head, growing a serious look on my face and casting my gaze back to the window where I watched the people go by. But as though some force of nature was tugging on my face, my eyes were drawn once again to the mirror, and then I caught him staring, his eyes on me like my eyes were on him. An ocean blue color that trembled with life. My cheeks suddenly grew hot, and I held on to myself, crossing my hands over my chest and feeling his eyes undress me. "Hey," he said suddenly. "Hi." My voice was low, almost even inaudible. "My mistake there for a while. I never got to know much of anything about you." His eyes moved from the road to me in seconds and then moved back. Something about it was so captivating. "Ehm... Uhm." I pretended to clear my throat. "What do you want to know about me? I mean you were the one who moved quickly to ask a stranger to marry you without asking questions." "Well that's why I am asking now, isn't it?" "Tch... You put on a very bad fight. How do you expect us to get married under such conditions, Mr?... See I don't even know your name." He sighed. I wished to know what exactly was going on in his head, but then, almost as if I had been under sedatives for the last hour, I finally realized something. "I don't even know where you are taking me," I said, almost getting up from my seat. "Hey, Relax." "What? How do you mean I should relax? I don't even know who you are, or if you're trying to kidnap me." "Ayayai, women. How do you mean the same guy who just saved your life a few minutes ago is trying to kidnap you? How do you even think that should work? And remember, you were the same person begging me to take you with me. Remember now?" I felt myself enveloped by a wave of embarrassment. I could not breathe for a second. He was right. I looked down at myself with shame. Was this how it was going to be? Laura and Aiden had really done a number on me. I could not even trust anymore. My chest felt stuck by a string of words that refused to spill out of my mouth no matter how much I tried breathing or wording them out. I took a deep breath, and then another deep breath, and then... "Hey, are you okay over there?" He asked, turning back around to stare at me. It was the first time I had seen a look of concern on his face. Seeing that made me gasp even more. "I am fine." I tried to hide how my voice shook, and the nervous feeling that trepidated in my stomach. He turned back to the steering wheel. "I guess you are fine then." For some reason that behavior had me disappointed. How so ungentlemanly of him to do that. For a few seconds, there was no conversation between us. I merely listened to the extremely coded tones he and his friend used as they talked to each other. No matter how much I invested my attention into the words being spoken, no matter how much I tried, all that came out of it, all I received, was more confusion for my already sorry mind. I decided to break the silence we had between ourselves. I could not tell if it was a bad idea or not, or if I just really liked hearing him speak to me. "So you never really told me your name," I said, this time, trying to be more polite than I was before. "If you would not mind." I heard a sigh from him. It was not a tired sigh, nor was it an "oh my god sigh". "Of course, I wouldn't mind," he said calmly, not looking back at me or even staring at the mirror just in front of him. "My name is Dylan. Dylan York." The name did not just ring a bell, it rang a broad number of bells. All of them, jingling and dangling in my head. "Whoa," I said, without even meaning to come off as so surprised about it. "You are the Dylan York? You mean they Dylan York that owns the automobile company you mean?" "I don't think there are any other Dylan Yorks out there, do you know any?" A light chuckle escaped from his lips; even though it was in a mocking tone, the sound of it was enough to make me happy. But I immediately rejected the feeling and looked away at the window once again. "Who knows? Maybe you really are just a kidnapper lying to me after all." A slight chuckle once again, and I could feel myself nearly melting from the feeling he roused inside of me. "You're really funny. What is your name?" "Alicia Keys," I said at once, holding myself from laughing. "Since we all are lying." I was really hoping to hear one more of his chuckling. But that did not happen. There was silence. A very heavy silence that I could not lift up. "Alright, alright. My name is Allison Wilson. I was just joking." "Wait. Your name isn't Alicia Keys?" He asked, sounding really surprised. "Why? How would you think my name was Alicia Keys? Don't you know Alicia Keys?" "No." He sounded so definitive. But I did not believe him one bit. "So again, where are we going?" "To my house" he answered.
