‘Yep, I’m going to check in on him this afternoon.’ Hugh got to the reason he had asked her for lunch. ‘Look, I never realised how awkward it would be for you and I just wanted to say I’m sorry. I’ve heard all the rumours flying around about Gina and I and that Saturday night.’ ‘I’d heard the rumours before I offered,’ Emily said. ‘They’re having a bit of a field day with it in Emergency but I was expecting that.
