Today was the grand opening of the ice cream shop. Frederick assumed Leah would be busy there all day; after all, she’d been genuinely thrilled to have her own shop. Her typically quiet social media had six new posts today, all about the shop.
Frederick finished work promptly at six. After navigating through rush-hour traffic in downtown Los Angeles, he arrived home around 7:20.
Entering the villa, he changed into slippers at the entryway and noticed her white sneakers in the shoe cabinet. Pausing for a moment, he asked, "She’s back already?"
Holly nodded, "Yes, sir. She returned this afternoon."
She came back in the afternoon? Why didn’t she stay at the shop longer? Did something happen at the store that made her unhappy, causing her to come back to Orchard View Villa so early?
