My Guardian Angel Chapter 2: The whispers

1813 Words
Somehow, after Austin told Scarlet about the weekend, the days felt like they strolled. The week seemed very long as she couldn't wait to taste Austin’s cooking as she hadn't gotten the chance to since they began the relationship. They always ordered take outs and all, but finally she would be eating meals prepared by her man. “a few more days, and i will eat his meals,” she would always mumble, to herself scrolling through bridal bouquets on her iPad while sipping her favourite hazelnut coffee. She longed to taste his cooking. She hadn't yet, not even for once since they began their fairytale romance. Always take out. Always restaurants. Now, Austin was finally going to cook for her. She told Zara this over and over, her excitements she couldn’t contain. “He’s cooking, Zee. I mean really cooking for me, I mean this is really strange, never have experience such, In his own kitchen! This man is a dream! He is my dream.” she laughed over a FaceTime call with Zara. Zara smiled on the screen. The smile was too perfect. “A man that looks like that and also cooks? I better steal him before he walks you down that aisle.” Scarlet rolled her eyes. “You wouldn't dare. Only if she knew the heart of a human. The long awaited weekend was finally here, with a kind of excitement that Scarlet hadn't felt in a long time. Austin’s house party was all she could think about; an evening of fun, food, and love with the people closest to her. She spent the great part of the Friday preparing, choosing the perfect dress, and texting Zara about matching outfits. Since Austin had insisted on handling the cooking himself, Scarlet couldn’t wait to see him in the kitchen to taste his magic fingers. The sun had set, casting a warm orange glow over Austin's luxurious mansion. The dining room was made of fully exclusive designs. Inside the mansion, the dinner table was set with fine china, crystal glasses, and elegant linens. The aroma of exquisite cuisine floated from the kitchen teases the guests' taste buds. As the evening progressed, the guests took their seats at the table, ready to indulge in a culinary masterpiece. Everything was perfect, and Austin was intentional. The front doors flung open. Austin stood there charming, steady waiting to receive the most important guest for the evening, She arrived wearing a simple yet elegant green silk dress that shimmered under the lights. Austin greeted her at the door with a gentle kiss and a bouquet of tulips, her favourite. The scent of baked mac and cheese and honey-glazed chicken wings filled the air. “oh my gosh, Austin tulips are my favourite! ” she gasped, taking the bouquet he offered in excitement. “I try to keep in mind your preferences. ” he said with a soft grin. “Dinner’s almost ready, my love. I made your favourites. " They sat at a candlelit table in his open-concept kitchen, digging into juicy BBQ ribs, truffle fries, and a side of coleslaw. For dessert, Austin had picked up slices of New York-style cheesecake from her favourite diner downtown. “You’re spoiling me again,” she teased, licking whipped cream off her spoon. “Tell me you made wings,” she teased, brushing a kiss on his cheek. “Wings. Burgers. Ribs. You whole command.” “Ohh my God, I’m marrying the best man. You're the last left on this planet." She teased. “You deserve to be spoiled every day,” he said, eyes never leaving hers. Later, while Scarlet stepped out to take a call from a business partner, Zara arrived quite late and glowing in a fitted burgundy dress. “Hey, Austin,” she said, letting herself in. “Scarlet told me I could let myself in. Hope I’m not interrupting.” Austin stood, smiling politely. “ No, not at all. Dinner just wrapped up.” Zara’s eyes wandered around the room, finally landing on him. “Mmm, smells like home. You really are the whole package, huh? Looks, charm, and can cook.” Austin chuckled, uncomfortable. “Scarlet seems to think so, too. Anyways, thanks for the compliment. " Zara stepped closer. “You know, if I were her, I’d never let you out of my sight.” He gave a short laugh. “She doesn’t have to. I’m not going anywhere.” Zara’s voice dropped slightly, playful but edged. “But what if someone… better came along? Would you even notice?” She shrugged, her tone light. “Just saying, you’re a catch. Any girl would be lucky to have." Before he could reply, Scarlet re-entered, laughing into her phone before hanging up. “Zara! You’re late!” she said, pulling her into a hug. By 7 PM, more guests had started to arrive. They sat in the chattering and having a blast. Scarlet occasionally caught Austin looking at her with a fondness that made her heart flutter. She was his, and he was hers. Life indeed felt secure and full of promises. Later that night, Scarlet stepped out to take a call from her wedding planner. They discussed final details; the flowers, the menu, and the guest list. It was a long, productive conversation that left her smiling as she returned to the house. Inside, the party was still alive, even though some guests had started to leave, but laughter echoed in the corners. Zara was chatting with a couple of friends near the kitchen while Austin served drinks to his cousins. Scarlet took a moment to look around, her heart full. This was her life now. This joy, this family. Everything she once dreamed of. As Scarlet remained outside, Zara slipped away from the small group she was with and walked toward Austin, who had just finished mixing a drink. "You always look good behind a bar," Zara said playfully, leaning against the counter. Austin chuckled. "I do what I can. Do you want another drink?" Zara stepped closer. "I want more than that." Austin raised an eyebrow. "Zara... you're tipsy. Maybe you should sit down." She smirked. "Don't act like you haven't noticed. The way I am to you,i sometimes catch you looking away sometimes; like you're trying not to. I see it. I feel it. You like me, don't you? You also want me." Austin’s jaw tightened. "You're Scarlet’s best friend. And I'm marrying her." He spoke in whispers to avoid a third party's ears. Zara moved in, her voice dropping to a whisper as well. "Exactly. That makes this more fun, doesn't it? Just once. One kiss, one touch, i want to feel how dominant you really are. I won't tell if you don't." Austin stepped back. "Zara, don’t. I love Scarlet. Don’t ruin what we have not with this. I thought you loved her and wanted the best for her. Why are you trying to spoil what she has going for her? Zara laughed softly, brushing her fingers along the rim of her glass. "You're a good man, Austin. I respect that. But if you ever change your mind... you know where to find me." She climbed off the barstool and headed back, looking for Scarlet. Austin stood there, tense, disturbed, and unsure if what had just happened was real. His p***s had already erected, I couldn't believe he was falling for her already. So cheaply. Austin poured some shots for himself and gulped the drink anxiously. He took three shots and then scanned the room with his eyes looking for Scarlet. A moment later, Scarlet returned inside with Zara by her side, glowing from her phone call, unaware of the tension that had just unravelled in her absence. Austin walked towards her, trying to hide his bulging p***s. "Hey honey, can I steal you for a bit," he took her away from Zara with no apology. Giving her neck kisses as they disappeared from the eyes of the guest that kept chattering. Kisses "Honey, I want you so bad right now, I'm horny as fuck." Scarlet was surprised, what could have made him so dead horny. "Is that why you stole me from the Zara? She questioned. "Yes, yes, my love, I can't seem to get enough of you. Let's just have a quick one, and we will return to the guest soon." Before Scarlet could say a word, she was shut up by a frantic kiss, the kind that almost suffocated her. Next thing, both of them were driven by passion as they hurriedly undressed each other. Back in the party, Zara's mind wondered as to what exactly Austin had called Scarlet for. Is he going to tell her that she was hitting on him? She got distracted again by the thought of his bulging p***s when he came to steal Scarlet, and a smile flashed across her face, not the kind that was please but rather one that revealed the intent of her heart. In what looked like 30 to 40 minutes, Scarlet joins Zara again, with scattered hair a sassy look. Zara, in her naughty nature, looked as her and then exclaimed. "Girllll, you look wasted and like someone who just had a quickey in the middle of a party." Scarlet reached for Zara's lips, covering it with her hands. "Stop shouting. It's embarrassing." Scarlet said still with a glow in her face. "Ohh my god, Scarlet, you did. You just had sex." Scarlet nodded frantically, smiling with excitement. "Tell me everything, how did it go? " I have nothing to tell. You're spoilt, get yourself a man, or I will help you." Scarlet replied, laughing. "Yes, you should at least know my specifications in a man." Scarlet looks at her puzzled. "Do I? "Yes, you do. Your fiance is my specification." They both laughed it off. Zara felt relief that Austin didn't tell Scarlet what had happened in her absence. The rest of the evening passed in a blur of good music, dancing, and wine. Zara and Scarlet had their usual late-night heart-to-heart in the guest bedroom, giggling like teenagers as they talked about wedding dresses and old crushes. As Scarlet drifted off to sleep later that night, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something had shifted, almost imperceptibly. A flicker of wind stirred her bedroom curtains despite the windows being closed. She turned slightly in her bed, whispering to no one in particular, "I hope this happiness lasts." In the quiet, a presence lingered. Watching. Waiting. From the corner of the room, unseen but very much real, he stood. Tall, patient, heart aching. Her guardian. Her silent protector. And soon, Scarlet would see him not just in dreams or in the edges of her memory but standing before her. But not yet. Not tonight. Tonight's happiness still lived.
