CHAPTER 67 RUTH I stepped into the bar, and it was loud and smelled like cheap perfume and relief. I sat on a stool at the counter, nursing a drink I wasn't very invested in. My third one. Maybe my fourth. I'd lost count somewhere between the memory of his hands on my body and the reality of his silence.
