For a few seconds, the words refused to fully register in my head. It wasn't until I saw the blazing anger in her eyes that my heart dropped to the very pit of my stomach.
Fuck! How did she know about Raven?
My heart hammered against my ribs, my palms slick with sweat. But I forced my face into a mask of confusion, tilting my head like I was genuinely baffled.
"Raven?" I repeated, my voice laced with complete confusion. "Baby, what are you talking about?"
Beth's eyes narrowed as she scoffed. "Don't you dare f*****g play dumb with me, Julian! I found the emails and the f*****g bank statements. Seven thousand dollars a month to someone named Raven? Seven thousand dollars, Julian!"
I blinked, letting out a slow breath. Then I forced out a laugh that sounded natural.
