Chapter 14

Third Person POV

As soon as Chris left Ariana's side, his beast took over. The nature was the witness of his misery. He shredded his clothes and shifted mid air and ran somewhere deep in the jungle. His pace was so high that his running couldn't be seen through n***d eyes, only the sound of his grunts could be heard all along the jungle. It seemed as if he sweating off his disappointment by running. Every other creature out in the wilderness could feel the pain their king was going through but none came forward to show pity or sympathy.

At one point the beast stopped near a small creek and looked at its reflection in the clear water. But that image was like stranger to his eyes; his one proud mane was let down as if the mighty beast has been humiliated. His eyes doesn't hold the hope that was once there to find his mate, instead there was pain because of his mate's behavior. His once mighty appearance looks defeated now. In that moment he felt alone.

After a few moments, a guy approached the beast and softly combed his fingers through the mane of the defeated lion to offer some condolences. He sat beside the beast and look at the clear water in front of him; he couldn't find it in himself to ask him about his behavior and what caused such pain that lead the beast took such a decision of taking total control of the body.

They kept looking in front of ten and soon the horizon was brightened with the Sun, bringing forth a new day.

After sitting there the whole night without saying anything to the hurt creature, Ashton thought of breaking the silence by asking what happened. He was waiting for an answer but didn't any so he kept looking forward to see the Sun rising in all of his glory. It felt as if the new sun breathed a new ray of hope in the beast's body. The beast sighed then shifted back to its human body.

Ashton gave him a pair of Shorts and a T-shirt and asked again of last night's happenings.

Chris's POV

" Yesterday when I was following Ari back to her apartment, I noticed the new model of Ducati standing right under Ari's apartment building. Although the neighborhood is decent but none earned enough money to own a Ducati and that intrigued my curiosity to check who the owner is. I saw Anderson Phillips there." As soon as I said that Ashton was awestruck about the newly learned facts. And I continued, "I was also shocked but what shocked me more when I heard him talking to my mate through his mobile phone. My beast being himself told me to follow so that we would be able to learn something about our mate. Even after making my people have a thorough background check on her, I never opened that file up. I was so tempted to open the file and know everything about her but then thinking about invading the privacy was not sitting well with me so I stopped, and changed my decision."

"Anderson Phillips the multi billionaire playboy?" Ashton asked.

"Yeah" I answered.

"That's not only thing that's shocking, it seemed like they have had known each other for a longer period of time, by the way he was calling her endearments." Thinking about the last night's scenario was enough to make mood worse to worst.

"And she didn't even stop him or corrected him, instead when I called her Ari, she questioned me when did we became so close to call her by nicknames." I continued.

"So you think that she's dating Anderson guy?" Ashton asked.

"It seems like so, he could even feel her, like I do. But it was really unsettling to see an ordinary person to have such abilities." I answered.

"Instead of being a judgements freak, go check her files to know of her relationship with him. Even if it makes you feel like a filthy stalker." Ashton finished.

I also agree, it's better checking that file rather than thinking shits and troubling myself.

After reaching home, I quickly freshened up and went inside in office to go through her file. As soon as I was about to open the while I got a call from my dad about some emergency documents that needs my attention.

The emergency was about our infirmary patients, there were many people who were not being able to afford their medical expenses, so I had to look for some ways to make it free for them without cutting on the employees salaries. It took me three hours to finish my paperworks regarding this, and at last I was free of the work. I was about to leave for my office at the city center, but Ash called to ask about what was there in Ariana's file. How could you forget about an important issue, my beast reprimanded, instead of getting in a tiff with my beast I responded to Ash that I'll let him know about all the things soon.

So instead of going to the office I sat back and opened the green file containing Ariana's informations.
