Chapter 9

Chapter 9 (Unknowns POV) I let my anger take over as I beat the werewolf dangling from his wrists in front of me. “Do you realize that you have potentially ruined everything?” I asked him. “I didn’t know. Father never told me.” “I get that Marcus, I really do. But you didn’t have to paralyze the girl.” “Why is she so f*****g important?” Raging at his question I let my anger take over again and backhanded him. Grabbing him by the hair I lifted his head until his eyes were level with mine. “The why isn’t important right now, but you need to be taught a lesson boy, and so does your father. Your family’s job was to dampen the girl’s spirit to where she wouldn’t be able to recognize the true power she holds. She must never find out who her real parents are. She must never find out who she really is until I am able to make her mine.” “Who is she?” Marcus asked me while I was walking over to Randolph who was also dangling from his wrists. Turning around I raked my eyes over his entire body. “I’ll tell you, but you have to agree that you’ll do everything that I tell you to do from this point forward.” I watched as Marcus processed what I told him and then nodded his understanding. Walking back over to him I leaned close so I could whisper in his ear. “Have you ever heard of Alpha Dagon?” I asked him and leaned back to watch the boy’s reaction. Laughing as I watched the rest of the color drain from the boy’s face. “That’s right Alpha Xavier Dagon is Ava’s Father and her Mother is Luna Natalia Dagon.” I could see the fear rise in Marcus’s eyes knowing who he would be up against if word ever got around to this Alpha and Luna couple that their daughter was not only still alive, but that she had been abused all her life. “I can see that you and your father may need a moment to discuss things, so I’ll give you a few minutes, but just remember this boy, if you ever betray me you’ll end up like your mother.” I said as I left the room, bolting the door behind me and making my way up to my sanctuary. ------------------------ (Marcus’s POV) I couldn’t believe what the demon had just told me. My mind was racing trying to think of ways to get myself out of this situation. Ava was not only the biological daughter of THE Alpha Dagon, but the niece of the Alpha King. I closed my eyes and tried to contain my temper. What the hell had my father been thinking when he agreed to take Ava in. He was the reason that my mother was dead. “Why did you do it father?” “I didn’t know at first.” He replied. “He was my friend, never showed any signs of being truly evil as long as I’ve known him even though he is a demon. I didn’t find out until after your mother died who Ava really belonged to. That’s when he came to me and told me he had killed her because she was going to betray him. She had found out and   was planning on making a trip to Alpha Dagon to let him know.” “If we get out of this, I’m done with you. I’ll play my part but the first chance I get I am going to Drew or even Alpha Wolf and letting them know.” “You can’t do that son, you’ll die.” “At this point I don’t care, and I’m surprised that you do. You’re the one that put me in this situation. Your only child, your only son.” ------------------------- (Rafe’s POV) I couldn’t help but have a smile on my face as I walked into my office. The smile Ava had given me was pure. It made me want to make her smile more often. I mentally made a note to ask the gardener to make sure we had some Gerbera Daisies planted when spring came around. Hoping that would give me another smile like the one I just got. I went to the coffee pot on a side table next to my desk and poured myself a cup before sitting down behind my desk looking across it at both Matt and Darek. They had both just come from the training fields. “Any word from the tracker on whether they have found anything about the rogues that came here?” “They were able to track them to the main road, after that their scents vanished. It can only be assumed that they had a car waiting for them.” Matt replied to my question. “I think we need to work on figuring out who Ava’s birth parents are.” Darek said and I just gave him a funny look. “Ava mentioned to Michelle that she’s adopted; Randolph and Marcus aren’t her biological family.” “I have always felt that their wanting her back felt like for than wanting their punching bag back.” I said. “Get Amy on it immediately, Michelle should have some of her blood left if not have her get more, Amy should be able to run it through the werewolf database to see if it pops to anyone.” Matt and Darek both nodded with a smirk on their face, very few packs knew about the database let alone had access to it. Even then it was only the Alpha, Beta and Gamma that knew about it and then one person from their Cyber Security/Digital Forensics team that they handpicked. The only reason they knew about the database was because Rafe’s Grandfather had been best friends with the former Alpha King, and therefore the knowledge had been passed down. Rafe and the current Alpha King were friends, but they weren’t as close as Rafe’s Grandfather and the Alpha King’s father had been. The only catch was they would have to call the Alpha King to get permission to use the database since it was only to be used in extreme circumstances. “I’ll Call Renaldo Later today and get the permissions that we need.” I said taking a sip of my coffee. After discussing a couple other things that they needed to take care of Matt and Darek left the office and headed off in their own directions leaving Rafe alone to think. After a couple hours going through some necessary paperwork Rafe sat back and decided to go ahead and get the call to the King over with. Picking up his phone he went to his contacts and started scrolling to the Kings name. Before he got to it though the Alexa Echo Show 8 in his office went off letting him know that someone was dropping in. “Ummm… Alexa did it work?” he heard Ava ask and chuckled to himself. “Hi Ava.” Rafe said. “Oh Hey, so it did work.” “Yes, how are you doing?” “Um, I need to use the bathroom. Michelle said she is with a patient and to see if you would mind helping me.” She replied and I could hear the blush in her words. “I’m on my way.” I replied. As I was leaving the office I said, “Alexa, end call.” I hadn’t told Ava how to end the call, so I knew it was probably still going. Going down the hall towards Ava’s room, I was thinking about the conversation that I had had with the guys and decided that maybe I should ask Ava what her thoughts are before we set things in motion. I knocked on Ava’s door to let her know that I was there then walked into the room. Shutting the door behind me I walked over to where I had settled her down on the couch. “Hi there, little one.” “Hi.” “Do you want me to carry you or do you want to use the chair?” “It doesn’t matter. Umm, you may have to help me with the process, I can do the relieving by myself but not the cleanup.” She said looking down I could see the blush spreading across her face. Kneeling in front of her, I lifter her head with my finger under her chin and said “You don’t ever have to be embarrassed with me little one. I would do anything for you to make sure you are safe and comfortable.” She nodded her head and smiled a small smile. Getting to my feet I picked her up bridal style and carried her in the bathroom. Once I had her settled comfortably enough to do her business, I told her, “I’ll give you some privacy just call out for me when you need help.” She nodded and I left the room. Going over to her sitting area I sat down on the sectional and decided to be nosy, seeing what she was watching. I wanted to get to know her better and see what she liked to watch. Turning the TV back on I went to Netflix and selected the profile I had set up for her on my account. Looking at her recently watched I saw that she watched a New Netflix original Show called Julie and the Phantom’s, and then after that she watched 3 Romantic Christmas Movies. I smiled at that. Turning the TV off I took out my phone and debated on calling Renaldo while I waited for her to finish using the bathroom. Something told me in the back of my mind to ask Ava to even see if she wanted to know yet. “Rafe!” I heard her call out. “Coming.” Going into the bathroom, I helped her clean up. “Can I take a bubble bath?” She asked while I was cleaning her up. “Of Course, let me draw it for you.” Going over to the jacuzzi tub I turned on the water to heat up and then selected some bubbles that were supposed to smell like warm vanilla and sugar. Just like her scent. I had her test the water and when she said it was good, I plugged the drain and poured in a healthy amount of bubble liquid. When the tub was full, and I helped Ava strip out of her clothes, and I was happy to see that even though she was shy she wasn’t trying to hide herself from me. After helping her with her clothes I picked her up and set her down gently in the water. She let out a cute little moan whenever I set her in the water, and it made me groan with lust. Shaking my head, I asked, “Would you like me to stay in here with you or wait out in the bedroom?” “You don’t have to wait I think I may just watch another movie since there is a TV in here also. I’ll watch another movie. Come check on me in an hour or so?” “Okay.” Walking out of the bathroom I went back to my office. On my way back to my office I mind linked both Matt and Darek asking them to come to my office when they weren’t busy, I wanted to discuss something with them both. After settling at my desk, I checked through my emails for the company that I also run and answered any of the ones I felt were pressing. It was only about a half an hour later when Matt and Darek both walked into my office. “What’s up man?” Matt asked as he and Darek sat in the chairs across from my desk. “I was thinking. Before I call Renaldo and get permission to use the database, we should ask Ava if she even wants us to. Yes, it would help us in figuring out what Randolph and Marcus were really up to, but I want her opinion.” I looked at them both and waited for one of them to speak. Darek was the first. “So, Michelle kind of suggested the same thing when I asked her if she still had any of Ava’s blood left after the tests she’s ran so far.” I nodded my head. “With everything that has happened to her I don’t want her to feel like I am making decisions for her. I want her to have freedom here and feel comfortable.” They both nod their heads in agreement with me and I send them on their way. Leaning back in my chair I start to ponder some things and decided I should probably tell my parents that I have found my Mate. They should be home soon and knowing my mother she’ll want to be on the first flight back home. Which is part of the reason I waited on telling them. Sliding the Alexa Echo Show 8 I had on my desk over to where it had a better angle of me, I said, “Alexa Drop in on Mom and Dad.” After a moment, I saw the hotel room my parents have been using for their stay. I wasn’t even sure where they were at currently, they’ve been so many places in the last year. “Mom, Dad is anyone there?” I heard a squeal then a deep chuckle and next thing I saw was my mom rushing over and plopping down in front of the screen and my dad standing behind her. “Hi baby!” my mom all but screamed. “Mom, I’m twenty-five. I’m no longer a baby. Haven’t been in a while.” I said with a soft chuckle. “You will always be my baby!” she argued. I glanced at dad and he just shrugged his shoulder as if to say I’m out of this conversation. I just glared at him with my eyes calling him a traitor. “So, anyways there is actually a reason for me calling other than to say hi.” “Oh, Rafe honey, you could have waited until we were home, we were actually packing up the last of our things.” Confused, I glanced at the calendar on my desk trying to remember what day it was and saw in Bold handwriting, that mom and dad would be home late Tonight. “Oh shit.” I said absently. “Watch your mouth young man.” My mother scolded but had a smile on her lips when I faced her again. “Sorry mom, I just forgot what day it was and that you would be home tonight. I actually thought I had another week.” Moms eyes clouded with worry and so did dads. “Son,” My dad said. “What’s wrong?” “Nothing is wrong per-say.” I replied trying to build up to the topic I wanted to discuss with them. “Yeah right young man.” My mother said, “That’s the line you use when you’re trying to keep yourself out of trouble. So, spill.” I sighed. “I found my mate.” I had to cover my ears because the high-pitched squeal that my mother let out hurt my ears. I sent a silent prayer of thanks to the Goddess that my office was soundproof, or half the warriors would have probably been headed to my office at the sound of her squeal. Then she started off on a never-ending stream of questions. “How old is she? What pack is she from? Is she from our pack? When did you meet her? How did you meet her? What’s her Name? What does she look like….” She kept going and eventually my dad placed his hand over her mouth and said, “Take a breath Abs and let the boy answer the questions you’ve already asked.”  When she nodded her agreement, my dad removed his hand and gave me a smile which I returned. “Her name is Ava, she just recently turned eighteen, I met her at the Lotus Grove Pack…” My father cut me off. “Lotus Grove?” he questioned. “Yes, I went there to enact the agreement you and the former Alpha had made.” “So, is she really your mate or is she your bride?” I smiled. “She was supposed to be my bride but turns out she is my Mate.” My smile fell though, and I wasn’t sure on how to answer my mother’s next question. “Rafe what’s wrong sweetheart?” my mother questioned when she saw the look on my face. “I’m just trying to figure out how to answer your next question?” “Which one?” “How we met?” “Well I also asked when you met her and what she looks like so if those are easier to answer…” She trailed off. “I met her two months ago.” I said waiting for what was surely about to come next. “TWO MONTHS AGO!” My mother shouted. “Why the hell are you just now telling us?” “Because, I wanted to tell you before you got home which is why I made the comment I thought I had at least another week.” “But that still doesn’t answer me on why you waited so long.” “Which leads me into how we met.” I sighed closing my eyes then took a deep breath. When I opened them again my mom and dad were both staring at me intently. “I went to Lotus Grove like I said to enact the agreement, I sent Matt with the current Alpha to the Beta’s house to inform the family on what was going on. Sometime after they left Matt linked me to let me know that he had an uneasy feeling. I decided to go over myself and as the former Alpha and I were heading that way Matt linked me again screaming at me to get there quickly. When I arrived at the Beta’s house I immediately went inside and what I found will haunt me for the rest of my days.” I took another calming breath and looked into my mother’s eyes. She gave me a reassuring smile encouraging me to continue. “When I got inside all I heard was Matt yelling at someone and fighting, I followed the sound into the kitchen and in a room that was supposed to be an oversized pantry, I found Matt beating the s**t out of a man and Alpha Andrew was kneeling down next to someone on a dingy mattress on the floor. Feeling compelled to see who he was whispering to I walked over and saw a girl laying on her stomach, it looked like she had been whipped. Then I noticed a huge blood stain in the middle of her back looking around the room I saw a hammer discarded not far from the bed. When I glanced back at the girl her eyes were open and she was staring at me with confusion and fear. When I looked into her eyes, I knew instantly that she was my Mate. Come to find out her brother and father have been repeatedly abusing her in some way shape or form since she was four years old. That night her brother lost it when Alpha Drew told him that Ava was to be married and tried to kill her. Instead all he was able to manage was paralyzing her to the waist down. After taking care of her brother and father, I brought her home and had Michelle tend to her. She’s been in a coma since the day I brought her home. That is until a week ago.” Rubbing my hands over my face I leaned back in my chair and looked at my parents. They both had tears in their eyes. My mother started to speak and then closed her mouth. Unsure of what to say. When she did this my father laid his hand on her should and said. “We’ll be home soon. I’ll have the hotel staff pack up the rest of our things and ship them home. I want to be on the next flight home.” I could hear the underlying anger in his voice. He didn’t condone any type of violence against women, especially if that violence came from the woman’s own family. Right as I was about to reply, I received a text from Michelle saying that Ava was ready to get out of her bath, that she had tried to call me but there was no answer. “Mom Dad, I have to go Ava needs help getting out of her bath. I’ll see you both when you get here, and we can talk more?” They both nodded their heads and mom said, “We love you Rafe, go take good care of our precious daughter-in-law.” I smiled at that she hadn’t even met Ava yet and she was calling her, her daughter-in-law. “I love you too.” I replied and ended the call. Getting up I walked out of my office and headed towards Ava’s room. ------------------------- (Ava’s POV) I let out a soft moan when I felt the water touch my skin as Rafe gently lowered me into the tub. I hadn’t had a bath since I was three. And then, I wasn’t very worried with the relaxing aspect of baths, I just wanted to play in the water. I heard Rafe groan as shortly after I had let the moan and watched his face. He showed no signs that he had been affected by the sound, but I had a feeling that the moan and turned him on a little bit. It must be frustrating to have a cripple as a Mate. I thought. Rafe asked me if I wanted him to wait for me out in the bedroom, but I told him he didn’t need to do that, that I would just watch a movie since there was a TV above the bathtub and to just check on me in an hour. When he left, I let my eyes wander taking in the bathroom, to the right of the door as you walk in there was a double sink Vanity with a Mirror that took up the entire vanity. At the far end there was another door, I assumed it was a second door that went into the closet. To the right of that door was a huge walk in shower. I couldn’t wait until I was able to walk again so I could properly use that shower. With a sigh I reached over and grabbed the remote off the windowsill and turned on the TV, going to Disney+ this time, scrolling through everything I decided to watch one of the Disney Channel Original Movies called The Color of Friendship. Settling back, I focused on the movie and really got into the message that it gave. As the credits started rolling, there was a soft knock on the door. “Come in.” I said without thinking. Thankfully it was Rafe that walked in. “Hey little one, are you ready to get out now?” he asked. “Yes, the movie I was watching just ended.” Coming over to the tub, Rafe unplugged the drain and the water started flowing out. Going over to a cabinet that was between the shower and the tub, he pulled out a large fluffy gray towel and brought it over to me. When the water from my bath was completely gone, he wrapped the towel around me and picked me up carrying me into the bedroom. I wiggled my upper body a little trying to get in a comfortable position in his arms when he let out a soft groan. “Ava stop wiggling.” He whispered. Glancing up I saw that his eyes were shifting back and forth between black and his normal Caribbean Blue, and I knew he was trying to control his wolf. I blushed a little knowing that he was holding his wolf back from doing anything I wasn’t ready for. He set me down on the bed and proceeded to dry me off. When that was done, he walked into the closet and came back with some clothes. He had me wrap my arms around his neck so he could lift me a little bit to slide my panties on then he handed me an oversized t-shirt that if I had been standing would have reached just above my knees. As I was putting on the shirt he grabbed a chair from the corner of the room that I hadn’t noticed earlier and sat down in it right in front of me. “Ava there’s something I want your opinion on.” He said. “What’s that?” “Well, Matt, Darek and I were talking and Darek told me that you had told Michelle you were adopted.” “Yes.” I said hesitantly curious as to where this was going. “When Darek told me this we had been discussing the fact that Randolph and Marcus seem pretty adamant on getting you back and we aren’t exactly sure.” I nodded encouraging him to keep going. “There’s this thing that the Alpha King has where we can send blood Analysis to and it can pinpoint which pack or family member a werewolf belongs to. We call it the database. We were talking about sending your blood off to be analyzed to see if we could find out who your birth parents were and if maybe that had something to do with Randolph and Marcus wanting you back so badly. The only thing is we must get the Alpha King’s permission in order to use it. When I was about to call him to start the process of gaining that permission since it can take a few months for him to look over our request and decide whether or not it’s warranted, a thought occurred to me.” I looked at him cautiously not sure if I knew where he was going with this. “And what thought was that?” “Do you even want to know?” He asked. I was stunned. Do I? A part of me wanted to scream no. But another part of me had so many questions that only my birth parents would be able to answer, the biggest one being, why did they give me up? I thought about what Rafe was asking me for a few minutes not looking at him, when I did look at him, he had a look of concern on his face. “Can you give me some time to make a decision? I’m not saying that I don’t want to know, because I do. I just don’t think I’m ready to face that obstacle quite yet.” “Of course, little one, I won’t call him until you give me the okay.” I smiled and said, “Thank you.” “You’re Welcome.” He said and got up from the chair taking it back to where he had gotten it from. “Rafe.” “Yes, little one?” “Am I going to have to stay in this room all the time?” “No, you are free to go wherever you like. But for today I’d rather you stay put at least until dinner.” “Is something happening at dinner?” “My parents will be home in a couple hours, and I want them to meet you before I officially introduce you to the whole pack.” I stared at him and started to panic a little and tears started flowing down my cheeks. He noticed and was instantly at my side gathering me into his arms as he sat next to me on the bed. “What’s wrong little one? Talk to me.” “Aren’t you worried that your parents and the pack will hate me?” “Why would they hate you little one?” “Because I’m a cripple.” I sobbed burying my face in his chest.
