Chapter 13

(Rafe’s POV)

Waking up the next morning I opened my eyes and tried to gain my bearings. As I woke up the memories from last night started to seep into my brain. Oh s**t! Did last night really happen? I thought, then turned my head to the left. What I saw made my heart swell with happiness. Ava was laying on her side facing me, she was still asleep, and her mouth was open a little bit. Her hair was tousled from sleep and all I could think, was she was so incredibly beautiful. Rolling onto my side to face her I leaned forward and decided to kiss her awake. I chuckled when she groaned and tried to swat me away but that only encouraged me to kiss her again.

When I leaned back to look at her again her eyes were open, and I could see the desire in them. “Careful little one,” I said. “Keep looking at me like that and I’m liable to repeat last night.”

Her eyes widened and she started to blush which caused me to chuckle. Glancing at the clock behind her head I saw that it was already nine thirty in the morning, and that I had missed training. “We need to get up.”

“Don’t wanna.” She said turning her face into her pillow.

“Neither do I but it’s already nine thirty, and I’m sure you’re hungry.” Right as those words left my mouth her stomach rumbled its displeasure at being empty. I chuckled, “See.”

“Yeah, yeah.” She said.

I got out of bed and stretched, turning around I watched as she rolled herself over and sat herself up using her hand she lifted one leg then the other over the edge of the bed then lifted herself up and scooted to where she was sitting on the edge of the bed. “You’re getting good at that.” I said.

She turned and looked at me with a smile on her face. “I am aren’t I.” then she got a glint in her eyes. “But it’s so nice when you do it for me.”

I shook my head with a chuckle and walked around the bed, I loved how she had grown more confident over the last few months. Going over to her I lifted her up and turned to set her in her chair, when I set her down and stood up looking down at her she was looking at me with a smile. “Let’s get you ready for the day.” I said taking the handles of her chair and turning her towards the bathroom.

“Sounds great, I really have to pee.” She replied.

I stopped in my tracks, sucking in a breath when I heard what she said. Looking down at her I saw she was looking at me confused. “Everything okay.” She asked.

I walked around to where I was standing in front of her and kneeled so that we were eye level. “Ava, do you know what you just said?” I said softly.

“Yeah, I said I really have to-.” She trailed off understanding crossing her face as her eyes grew wide and she smiled. “Oh my god! I can feel that I need to pee!”

I just chuckled, “Well let’s get you to the bathroom.”

After about forty-five minutes I helped Ava finish her morning routine of using the bathroom, washing her face, brushing her teeth and hair as well as picking out her outfit for the day then I helped her get dressed. Today she chose to wear some black skinny jeans, a black camisole with a black and white flannel shirt. She paired it with some black combat boots and was ready to go down to breakfast.

Heading down to the kitchen I talked with Ava a little bit. When we got on the elevator she asked, “What are your plans today?”

“I have a meeting with my dad after breakfast, but after that I’m clear. What’s up?”

“I was wondering if you could take me into town today. I want to get some Art supplies.”

“Sure, I’ll come get you whenever we are finished with the meeting.”

She smiled and replied “Okay.”

Upon entering the kitchen, I saw that it was bustling with activity. Most of the warriors that come to the Packhouse after training were still there enjoying their breakfast, Mom and Dad were there as well helping Maria hand out the plates of food that the pack members would then take out to the dining room to eat. Maria was the first to notice us and gave Ava a big smile as she said, “Morning Alpha, Luna.”

As she said this all the pack members that were in the kitchen stopped what they were doing and turned to look at us, “Morning.” They all said, and I inclined my head in a slight nod as acknowledgment before continued getting their breakfast.

“Good Morning Maria.” I heard Ava Reply.

Even though we have yet to go through Ava’s Luna Ceremony, everyone has already started calling her Luna. I know it has made her extremely happy knowing so many of the pack members were accepting of her as she was. And even though she doesn’t think I know; I know there have been a handful of she-wolfs that have said some nasty things about her within hearing distance. I haven’t said anything because I just retaliate by showing Ava my affection not only in private but whenever we are in public together.

“Ava,” Mom says as she handed a plate to the last warrior in line waiting for breakfast. “I was wanting to-.” She trailed off as she came around the island to stand in front of us and started to scrutinize Ava’s face. Glancing down I notice Ava just smile at mom waiting for her to continue.

“You were wanting to what?” She prompted her after waiting a minute for her to continue.

“Oh, umm sorry, I lost my train of thought.” She said. “There’s just something different about you this morning Ava. Anyways, I was wanting to show you a few things up in your office.”

“My office is ready?” Ava asked with excitement. Mom and Michelle have been renovating Ava’s office to fit her needs and preferences for the last three months and refused to let her see it.

Mom smiles at that. “Yes, it is. I’ll show you after breakfast if you’re not busy.”

Ava glances up at me. “Will I have time Rafe?”

 “Yeah, I expect the meeting to take no longer than two hours, plenty of time for you to acquaint yourself with your office.” I say with a chuckle. Leaning down I place a kiss on top of her head and continues to take her over to the table so we can eat our breakfast.

Once we were all settled with our plates, Darek was in the middle of talking to me when his eyes glossed over. When his eyes were back to normal, I could tell that he was worried.

 “Everything okay Darek?” Ava asks.

He shakes his head to clear it. “Umm, yeah I think so Michelle just mind linked me asking me to come to her office.” Scooting his chair back he gets up while saying, “If you’ll excuse me.”

We all nod, “If you guys need anything let me know.” I wince internally because I could hear the concern in my voice. It isn’t often that Michelle asks one of us even Darek to come to her office during a workday. Especially since Ava is no longer in the coma.

Leaving Ava with mom when I was finished with breakfast I headed up to my office, when I got there, I saw Matt and my dad already sitting in front of my desk waiting on me. “Good Morning.” I say walking over and sitting behind my desk.

Right as I sit down, Darek walks into the room as well and takes his seat next to Matt. I notice he has a dazed look on his face, so I ask, “Everything okay Darek?”

He shakes his head to clear it and smiles at me with one of the biggest smiles, I have ever seen on his face. “Yeah, everything is great.” He replies.

“Want to share with the rest of us?”

“No, not right now at least, lets focus on this meeting and maybe at dinner tonight.”

I understood that statement for what it was Michelle didn’t want him to say anything about why she called him to her office. So, I just start the meeting. We go over security measures we have in place and decide where we need more patrols.

This goes on for the next hour and half discussing various scenarios that could happen and seeing if our defenses would be ready for it. When finish we all lean back and let out a sigh.

“So Rafe,” Darek says with a coy smile on his face and I know what’s coming next. “Why did you miss training this morning?”

“Ava had a bad night.” I say simply.

The smile disappears from his face and it’s replaced with worry for his Luna. “Is she alright?”

“She’ll be fine.” I say with a smile, not wanting to reveal that she’s starting to get feeling back in her lower body, not yet unless it’s a fluke.

“Well,” Dad says while standing up, “I think I’m going to go find my lovely wife and go for a walk.”

“Check Ava’s office, Mom mentioned it was finished and was going to show it to her.” I say absently.

With a nod he leaves the room leaving me alone with Matt and Darek. “Matt, I have a feeling something is coming. Do a patrol personally where Darek encountered the Rogues that day.”

“On it.” He replies getting up to go do my bidding leaving me alone with Darek.

“Darek, I don’t have anything for you, so go take care of whatever you have going on, Ava and I are going into town in an hour or so and I want you there with me.”

“Understood.” Getting up he leaves the room also leaving me alone with my thoughts.

(Darek’s POV)

Before the Meeting

I feel the nerves bubbling up in my stomach, I have no clue what Michelle needs she doesn’t usually ask me to come to her office, usually if she needs something, she just comes to find me herself. There had been a slight catch in her voice whenever she had linked me that had me concerned also.

Walking into the hospital I went directly to Michelle’s office not bothering to stop and chat to anyone, getting to her door I knocked and entered immediately. Once inside I shut the door and walked towards her. She had lifted her head whenever I came into room and she gave me a big smile, but I could see the tears still in her eyes. Walking over to her I wrapped my arms around her. “What’s wrong baby?” I asked my voice low and gruff.

She waved towards her desk, glancing down I saw some Ultrasound pictures. Another pack member was pregnant, and we weren’t, thinking I understood now why she had been crying I squeezed her tight. “Michelle, it’ll be okay, our time will come when we least expect it.”

She chuckles as I turn her chair so she’s looking at me, “What’s going on inside that head.”

She chuckles again and picks up the pictures. “Look at the pictures closely Darek.”

“Isn’t that some sort of privacy breach?” I question.

“It is but in this case it’s not a big deal.”

“Okay.” I say prolonging the O and taking the pictures from her hand. Looking at the picture, I see that it has an arrow that points out the baby. I was just about to ask her what I was supposed to be seeing when I happened to glance at the name on the top of each image. My head snapped up looking her in the eyes and I saw she was smiling so big and tears of joy were streaming down her face. “We’re going to have a baby?” I croak.

She just nods and throws her arms around my neck. Tossing the pictures back on the desk I wrap my arms around her waist and lift her up spinning her around. Placing her back on her feet I lean back and grabbing her face with both my hands. “I love you Michelle.”

“I love you too.” She whispers then leans in and crashes her lips to mine.

(Ava’s POV)

“Okay now cover your eyes.” Abigail says excitedly.

With a chuckle, I do what she says and cover my eyes with my hands as she opens the door and pushes me over the threshold. I hear the door close behind us and then I’m moving again. “Okay open.” She says.

Removing my hands, I gasp as I take in my new office. There’s an L shaped desk against the far wall, with one side facing the room, they had left enough room between the opposite wall and the desk for me to get my chair behind the desk as well. In front of the desk were three chairs for when I have formal meetings with pack members or whoever comes to see me. Behind those is a chocolate brown oversized love seat, that has deep purple throw pillows on it and a fuzzy purple throw blanket laying across the back of it. On the walls are several pictures of some of my favorite bands and some beautiful artwork I remember Michelle asking me a couple weeks ago what I thought about them. Wheeling myself over to my desk I see there’s a laptop set up on a docking station that’s connected to two 27” monitors. On the corner of the desk is another Echo show, that has a slide show of pictures moving across the screen that have been taken since I woke up from the coma.

“I absolutely love it Abigail.” I gush.

“I’m glad sweetheart.”

There’s a knock at the door and I look to her with a questioning look on my face. She just shrugs as if to say it’s your office now. With a smile, I say “Come in.”

The door opens, and in walks Michelle. “Damn, guess I missed the big reveal.” She says with a smile on her face. Walking over to one of the chairs in front of my desk she takes a seat. “So, first order of business, update me on your progress.” She says going into doctor mode.

“Is this the same laptop I have been using the last few months?” I ask.

“No, but it has everything from the old one on there.”

Nodding I boot up the computer and log in, going to my documents folder I pulled up my progress log and typed in what happened last night, orgasm included, and then what happened this morning. Once I finished updating the log, I saved it and then went to my email and sent it to Michelle. Leaning back in my chair I looked back across my desk at Michelle and gave her a coy smile.

Michelle looked at me confused and said, “What’s with the smile Ava.”

“Just look at the log I sent you.”

Pulling out her phone Michelle and started tapping on it, it didn’t take long for her head to gasp looking back up at me with an O shape appearing on her lips. “Are you being for real?”

“Absolutely, Rafe pleasured me last night, I actually felt it. And when I woke up this morning, I could feel that I needed to pee.” I replied, then glanced over at Abigail when I heard her sharp intake of breath. “What’s wrong Abigail?”

“That’s why you seemed different this morning. You had your first orgasm and it left a soft glow to your face.”

I smiled and was about to say something else when there was a knock on the door, “Come in.” I say instantly.

Alastair walks in and looks around, “Nice.” Was all he said before coming to stand beside Abigail. “Do you like it Ava?” he asked.

“I love it, thank you guys so much.”

“This was all Michelle and Abigail; I just provided some manual labor when asked.” Alastair said while placing his arm around Abigail, “Now, if you two will excuse us, I’m going to steal away my beautiful wife and take her for a stroll around the garden.”

When they had left the office, Michelle looked at me and smiled. “So, you finally put what I’ve been teaching you to good use last night?”

I blushed and nodded, “Yeah, I only gave him a hand job and he only fingered me, but it felt so amazing.”

“And you felt that also?”

“Yes, at first I didn’t realize it, but once I did it was all I could focus on.”

“Okay, well I’m going to do some more research adding this information into the data and see what I come up with. I feel like this is going to be a step in the right direction to getting you on your feet again.” Getting up she starts to head towards the door. “Don’t forget we have physical therapy tomorrow.”

After that she was gone and left me alone with my thoughts. Looking around the room, taking in everything that Michelle and Abigail did for me. I couldn’t help the sigh that escaped my lips, it was nice to feel like I belonged. Even more so to see that people do care about my wellbeing.

“Alexa, Drop in on Rafe’s Office.” I say.

Shortly after giving my command I see Rafe on the screen leaning back in his chair, I watch as he glances at the screen having heard the notification sound and a smile appear on his face. “Hi Rafe!” I say and wave at the screen.

“Hello little one. Do you like your office?”

“I love it, I can’t wait to start using it every day.”

“Well, I’m glad.”

“Are you ready to leave?” I ask.

“Here in a little bit, I sent Darek to complete any tasks he needed to get complete, and when he’s done with that we can go.”

“Oh, Darek is going with us?” I ask slightly disappointed that it won’t be just the two of us.

“Yes, I want backup in case anything happens, I don’t think anything will, but I’d rather be safe than sorry.”

I give him a smile, that makes sense, guess I should have thought of that also. “Okay sounds great. Where do you want to meet?”

“I will come get you from your office if you’re still going to be there in about 20 minutes.” He replies.

“I actually need to use the bathroom, so how about we meet in my room.”

“Sounds good little one. I’ll see you then.”

With a wave, I blow him a kiss before ending the call. Taking the wheels of my chair in my hand I maneuver myself around my desk and then out of my office. The office is only a couple of doors down from my room, so it doesn’t take me any time at all to get there. Getting inside, I go into the bathroom and take care of my needs and as I’m finishing up, I hear someone coming into my bedroom. “I’m almost done.” I call out.

When I get myself situated in my chair, I got over to the sink and wash my hands, after drying them on the towel lying next to the sink, I head back into the bedroom. “I’m ready, if you are.” I say as I wheel myself into the bedroom. Looking around, I don’t see anyone though.

“I could have sworn I heard someone.” I say shaking my head in confusion. “Rafe are you in here?” I call out. But I don’t receive a reply.

Glancing around the room again, I notice that the window is open, that’s odd, I could have sworn it was closed whenever I came in to use the bathroom. Wheeling myself over to the window I reach for the handle to swing it shut.

When the window is shut, I latch it looking outside, a scream catches in my throat when I catch a reflection of someone standing behind me, but I quickly realized that it’s Rafe. Turning my chair around, I glare at him. “Don’t sneak up on me like that.”

He smiles gently and says, “I’m sorry little one I didn’t mean to frighten you.”

“It’s okay,” I say with a sigh. “Hey, did you come in and open the window then leave the room again?”

“No, why?”

“Because, it wasn’t open when I came in to use the bathroom, but when I got out It was. It also sounded like someone came in the room while I was finishing up but when I got out here no one was in here and the window was open.”

Rafe got a serious look on his face, walking passed me he went over to the window and looked outside, “It’s probably nothing.” I say trying to relieve the tension growing in the room.

“Maybe, but I still want someone to check things out while we’re gone.” He finally says after a few minutes. Turning back around he looks at me and smiles again, “Are you ready to head into town?”

“More than ever, it’ll be nice to get away from the house.” I say with a smile.
