Elena POV
My eyes widened as I gaped at Draven, “He’d been saving it for himself.”
“Yes,” he agreed, “that’s why he only chose fifteen more warriors. The potion was running out.”
A knock sounded on the door and both our heads immediately swung towards it before Draven got up in one smooth movement to go answer it.
“We found something Alpha,” a muffled voice sounded from the door , “Marcus said you might want to see it.”
Less than five minutes later, we were in a remote corner of the garden, crowding round a young deer’s carcass.
I pushed down the urge to retch, as I looked down at it. It looked like a fresh kill but maggots were already swarming in it.
I turned away as my stomach heaved one more time, catching sight of Draven as I did so.
