Nellie’s gasp was covered by another woman who’d quickly slid in front of me and successfully blocked my path to the door.
“Thank you for coming to our home, Luna.” She said. Her words were polite but I could see a glint of something in her eyes that told me she wasn’t going to leave easily. Not without getting whatever it was she came for.
“It’s nothing.” I said turning back to her. “Nellie’s been really helpful to me so I thought I’d show her a little support today.”
