“And if I decide to kill her right here?” Sophia asked, the hand she held the knife with trembling slightly. “What then? Are you going to avenge her? The mate you didn’t want?”
“Can you stop saying nonsense?” Carter hissed as his gaze moved between Sophia and the rogues. “We have a mission to complete.”
The rogues remained silent, merely observing as if whatever happened to me was none of their concern.
“Are you really going to throw your life away?” The veins on Carter’s forehead strained as he looked back at Sophia. “Our orders were to bring her without any harm being inflicted on her.”
“No.” Sophia said slowly. “Our orders were to bring her in one piece. He didn’t specifically say she had to be alive.”
“Sophia.” Carter growled. “Let her go.”
