I reared back at once, stung by the viciousness of her words. At that moment it became clear to me that nothing I say or do would have any effect on her. “You really don’t have to go so far you know?”
She lowered her head but her face remained detached, a blank canvas. “Please punish me for disrespecting you, Luna.”
I stared silently at her for a second. “So you’ve really made up your mind.”
“Yes Luna,” she nodded, “so please let me go.”
“No,” I swallowed heavily, putting distance between us. “You don’t have to leave, you’ve chosen not to be my personal maid anymore but you can still stay in the palace.
It’s your home, I won’t take that away from you.”
“Thank you Luna.” She bowed once and left the room, not even sparing a glance at Lucas.
I let myself sink back into the
