Alpha Camerron and his daughter Lakisha spent the previous night anxiously waiting for any signs of improvement in Karina's condition. The next day, as Lakisha prepared to go to her parents room, her heart filled with hope and anticipation, praying that her mother would finally wake up and be back to her lively self again. She grabbed her ringing clock from the bedside table and turned it off. She closed her eyes, rubbed her face, and took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing thoughts. She stayed up late the previous night trying to figure out what could have led to her mother's signs of depression. After scratching her head, groaning, and tossing in bed for as long as she could feel like burying her face in the pillow and crying herself to sleep, she came to the conclusion that her mother's condition might be related to Larrisa's imprisonment. She knew that the road to recovery would be long and uncertain because she had already traveled it, but she was determined to stay strong for her mother's sake. She knew breaking down and losing hope would not only slow her mother's recovery but also affect her dad, who had asked her to stay strong for her mother. She swung her legs off the bed and hurriedly walked to the bathroom, where she made a mental note of taking a quick shower. She didn't even exercise like she did every morning because she thought spending one more hour in her room would make her miss the chance to see if her mother was awake. All she wanted was that if her mother were to regain consciousness anytime soon, she should find her sitting beside her bed, holding her hands. She knew that her presence and support would mean the world to her mother in this difficult time. With quick steps that almost made her trip over the glass bathtub door, she approached the bathtub. She unfastened the clasp of her pink bra, which she hadn't taken off the previous night, and lifted it over her shoulders. With a single hurl, it fell right into the laundry basket behind her. Her fingers reached her waist, where they unconsciously ran on the edges of her pink lingerie and pushed it downwards in a slow manner, releasing her rounded ass to the air. She arched her foot to enter the bathtub and eased herself into the warm water, realizing that a sense of relief washed over her. The soothing embrace of the bath offered a temporary escape from the weight of the thoughts that occupied her the previous night, allowing her to momentarily forget the challenges that lay outside its confines. The shower was as quick as she had planned. When done, she reached her hands to the towel rack, grabbed a white one, and dried her body. She then reached for another dry towel, wrapped it around her bosom, and retreated back to her room. She walked straight to the large window that overlooked the city below her and pushed it open. She crimped her eyes against the morning sun and then turned to walk to the walk-in closet, where she settled on a pair of comfy clothes. A light blue jean trouser and a white sleeveless top since it was a bit warm. She put on her fluffy blue indoor shoes and rushed downstairs. "Is breakfast ready?" She asked the male chef to stir something in the cooker. "Yes, Miss Lakisha." The man answered, and a smile flashed on his face. She nodded and walked to the fridge, where she took out a bottle of water. She unscrewed the cap and took a long sip, feeling the coolness of the water refresh her throat. As she closed the fridge door, she noticed a colorful array of fresh fruits on the kitchen counter, tempting her with their vibrant hues. She reached for a large green apple and took a large bite. The crispness of the apple filled her mouth, and she savored the sweet and tangy flavor. Her eyes caught the male, and she couldn't help but admire his dedication to the food cooking on the cooker. She watched as he expertly stirred the contents of the cooker, his movements precise and graceful. "Get a grip on yourself, Lakisha." She slapped her cheeks when she realized she had started gazing inappropriately at the chef. Embarrassed by her behavior, she quickly averted her gaze and tried to focus on something else in the room. However, the tantalizing aroma of the food wafting through the air made it difficult for her to distract herself from his presence. She decided to concentrate on the juicy apple in her hands as a way to distract herself from the chef. "I'll have mine in Mom's room." She turned to face him after she was done with her apple. The chef hummed in agreement while licking his lower lip. She cleared her throat, tearing her gaze forcibly away from the chef's wet, pinkish lips due to the constant licking. She couldn't believe herself. Her mom was upstairs, unresponsive, and there she was drooling over the chef. It wasn't her fault, though. Since her fiance dumped her months ago, she hasn't touched any men, so it was normal for her to feel that way. "I'll be taking the food upstairs, Miss Lakisha." The chef's deep voice jarred her from her thoughts. She glanced at him and nodded, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. She quickly regained her composure and forced a polite smile, thanking him for his assistance. As he turned to leave, she couldn't help but notice the subtle scent of his cologne lingering in the air, adding to her growing infatuation. She had never felt that way toward the man, and that made her more confused. She couldn't tell if she had a genuine feeling toward him or if her brain was trying to distract her from her mother. Either way, she wasn't ready to explore those emotions just yet. She pushed the thoughts aside and focused on the task at hand, determined to maintain a professional relationship with him. However, deep down, a part of her couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to let herself indulge in those sudden feelings. A few minutes later, the chef came through the kitchen door and told her that he had already laid the table for her and her parents. She took another sip from her bottle of water, trying to calm her racing thoughts. As she made her way to her parent's room upstairs, she couldn't shake off the lingering curiosity about what could have been if she had allowed herself to explore those emotions. However, for now, she knew that maintaining a professional demeanor was the best course of action. She knocked at the door before walking in as a way of telling her that she was about to walk in. Her father's deep ''come in'' echoed, and she pushed the door slightly open so not to distract her mother if she was not awake yet. As she entered the room, she noticed her mother stirring in bed, slowly waking up from her slumber. The morning light softly illuminated the room, casting a warm glow on her mother's face. She was about to scream in happiness, knowing that her mother was finally responding, but her father made a shushing gesture, tapping his forefinger in his pursed lips, then whispered,Don't do that, you'll startle her." She nodded in understanding and tiptoed closer to her mother's bedside, a mix of relief and excitement filling her heart. The sight of her mother awakening gave her hope for a brighter day ahead of them. She wouldn't be sad, overthinking what she would do if her mother never woke up. "Mother, I'm so glad to see you awake," she whispered, tears of joy welling up in her eyes. "I've missed you so much." Her mother raised her hand and wiped the tears welling out of her eyes before gently caressing her daughter's cheek. "I've missed you too, my dear," she whispered back, her voice filled with love and gratitude. "Dad missed you too. You made us whole again," the daughter continued, her voice filled with relief. "We've been waiting for this moment for so long. Although it's just been a day since you lost your consciousness, it feels like we have been waiting for five whole years!" Her mother smiled weakly, her eyes filled with a mix of emotions. "I'm sorry I worried you both," she said softly. "But I'm here now, and we'll make every moment count. Where is your dad?" "There, he is so shocked that he can't stand from his chair." Lakisha laughed, saying, "He didn't expect you to wake anytime soon, let alone so soon after losing consciousness. He's been by your side the whole time, barely leaving the room. I think he's just in shock that you're finally awake." "Don't talk as if I am not here. Now get away; it's my turn to hug my wife." Alpha Cameroon rose from his chair and pushed Lakisha playfully away from her mother to embrace his wife tightly. Tears streamed down his face as he held her. Lakisha stepped back, giving them some space to share their emotional reunion. The room was filled with a mix of relief and joy as Alpha Cameroon held onto his wife, cherishing the moment they had longed for during her unconsciousness. "It's enough, dad; she can't breathe," Lakisha whispered, concern etched on her face. She gently tapped her father's shoulder, urging him to release his tight grip on her mother. The overwhelming emotions of the reunion had momentarily clouded his judgment, but Lakisha knew that her mother's well-being was now their top priority. "Uh, sorry, sorry," Alpha Cameroon said, stepping back from his wife, realizing the urgency of the situation. He took a deep breath, trying to regain his composure, and nodded at Lakisha, silently acknowledging her concern. Together, they carefully helped her mother sit up and ensure she could breathe comfortably before making a call to the pack doctor, who said that he should be called the moment Karina woke up. "Mom, I'll help you take a shower. Dad, can you help me carry her to the bathroom? Alpha Cameroon nodded in agreement, grateful for his daughter's willingness to assist. "Of course, sweetheart," he replied, gently lifting Karina into his arms. "Here, let me know if you need any help or anything." After graciously laying his wife in the bathtub, he told her daughter, who was standing beside him with a bottle of her mother's favorite shamppo in her hands. It was glad that he had already prepared a warm bath just in case she was to regain consciousness anytime soon. When Alpha Cameroon left, Lakisha started by washing her mother's hair, scrubbed her skin, and then helped her rinse under the shower. When she was done, she dried her body and then helped her tie a dry towel to shield her from the cold. Her mother was okay now because she cracked jokes all the time, laughing gleefully, and even admitted that she was feeling okay now. Before she could retreat back to her room, Lakish pulled her mother back. "Is there anything wrong, sweety?" Karina asked, concern evident in her voice. Her mother paused for a moment, a thoughtful expression crossing her face. "Actually," she said slowly, "there is something I've been meaning to ask you, but not in my father's presence." Karina's heart skipped a beat as she anticipated her daughter's question. She could sense the weight of the unspoken words hanging in the air, causing a slight tension between them. Unsure of what to expect, she nodded encouragingly, silently urging Lakisha to continue. "Who is Mother Ophra?" She asked the unexpected question, her voice filled with curiosity and a hint of confusion. Karina's eyebrows furrowed slightly, caught off guard by the mention of Mother Ophra. She took a moment to gather her thoughts before responding, realizing that this was a conversation she had never expected to one day have with her daughter.
