27The most dreadful thing about regret is ‘What if…?’ The question plagued her. It kept popping up in her head. What if I’d gone to the funeral? Weng wouldn’t speak to her. She couldn’t rest. She lost sleep. Christmas and Chinese New Year came and went. Eventually, she visited the flat again but Weng wasn’t there. He seemed to be avoiding her. With exams over, school was over.
