Chapter 6 The next morning I was awoken by a sliver of light cascading across my face. I opened my eyes and saw Auroreis standing by the window in my bedroom, pressing the button that retracted golden shutters to let in the ever-present sunlight of Aeden. The inner world of Earth had clouds and rain, just like Midgard, or Earth as I knew it, so the rays could be dimmed, but night never fell. The fae had long ago found that the best way to avoid insomnia and what Alaskans fondly call “Summer Mania” was to provide lightproof rooms so that the pineal gland could properly recharge and maintain the body’s hormonal system during sleep.
