Epilogue
Kadyn forgot her reading assignment and leaned back as a salty ocean breeze rushed across the pier on Tybee Island. The lingering crowd had dispersed, leaving her alone as the sunlight faded. Waves crashed into the pylons, swirling and hissing. She came here at least three times a week, hoping to find solace. Although she told her school acquaintances she came here to study, she found it difficult to concentrate on anything these days. Since returning to school at the beginning of the semester, her grades had been anything but exemplary. To make matters worse, she hasn't heard from Josh in months.
Why had he decided to go back out there?
She asked this question often, suffering from memories she couldn’t ignore, and no one else in the world could understand.
