Catherine's POV
"Hello, Catherine! I am your wolf."
The greeting was echoing in my mind, but I couldn't get it at first.
When I realized that I had heard the voice for real, I subconsciously blurted out, "W-What?"
Before I could get an answer, a sharp pain ran through my body and I couldn't say anything.
I felt my body being pulled by power from all directions, with my bones expanding and growing rapidly. I was so scared and felt as if I was going to be torn apart.
I wondered, 'Am I going to die?'
"Relax, Catherine." The gentle female voice sounded again in my ear. "Relax, I'm helping you with your first shift."
Panting heavily, I gathered my thoughts and did what she had said. As I gradually released control of my body, there came the cracking sound of my bones. Afterward, I immediately stood up.
I looked down at the wolf paws on the ground and closed my eyes, feeling that my sense of smell and hearing was sharper. In excitement, I started running fast in the forest.
I leaped nimbly from bush to bush, feeling the cool breeze brushing my fur. It was so wonderful that the irritation in my heart gradually dissipated.
I stopped in front of a lake and stared down at my reflection in the water. Then I saw my wolf, a beautiful and strong white wolf.
My wolf was actually a white wolf! I was deeply attracted by my reflection in the lake.
In my impression, my father, the Alpha of the Black Moon Pack, was a wolf with black fur. As for my mother, I never saw her wolf.
But as I can remember, most werewolves in my pack became black or brown wolves after they shifted.
The white wolf symbolized the moon in legends.
"Hi! Are you there?" I tried to call to my wolf in my mind.
"Yes, always. You can call me Eva." She replied.
I breathed a sigh of relief when I heard her voice. "Great, Eva. Although I don't know why you came so late... I mean, I thought I would never be able to shift in my entire life. Anyway, I am not that afraid now."
"I didn't mean to be late." Eva's voice was a little low. "It's because I have been trapped in another place before."
"Where are you trapped?" I was puzzled.
"You will know later." Obviously, Eva didn't want to talk more about it.
Eva paused and continued, "You'd better go back to get your luggage as soon as possible and find a place to stay before dark. I can sense that there is more than one rogue in this forest."
"Don't worry. We're one of them now." I wanted to shrug, but I could only shake my fur as I was a wolf now.
"Believe me, you are no match for them," Eva said slowly, "Because you are pregnant."
"What did you say?" I almost let out a howl in surprise.
I paused for a moment and asked, "Are you serious? I know what happened to me yesterday, but it has only been less than a day. How is it possible?"
"I know it is unbelievable. But Catherine, trust me. You are carrying babies. They are gifts from the Moon Goddess," Eva whispered.
I still had questions, but a rustling sound came to my sharp ears from a few kilometers away. It seemed that someone was approaching.
"Don't hesitate, Catherine. It's getting dark. We have to leave as soon as possible," Eva urged.
Blake's POV
As the eldest son of the Lycan King, Marc Chavez, I was extremely strong and was good at fighting.
In addition, the royal family established a company in New York under my leadership.
We did business with humans and had accumulated lots of money.
As a result, the wolf packs in my father's jurisdiction all lived a good life.
Even so, those old fogies of the Council still opposed my nomination to the post of the future Lycan King.
It was just because I didn't have a mate. Right, the damn mate.
In my opinion, I didn't need the help of a mate.
Worrying about me, my father asked the packs within his jurisdiction to hold mating gatherings every year in the hope that I could find my mate.
This year, I came to Shadow Forest in disguise with my Beta, Henry Shaw. To be honest, I thought that the mating gathering here was as boring as those in other places.
While I was wandering at the periphery of Shadow Forest, I suddenly smelled a nice scent.
It was fragrant and elegant, just like pine needles soaked in dew.
I gradually approached the smell to see what the woman looked like. But my wolf suddenly became restless and took over my consciousness before I could do anything.
When I woke up, I found myself in a hotel room with a n***d woman sleeping next to me.
"Damn it!" I cursed in a low voice. Then I picked up the clothes on the ground and put them on.
My wolf actually made me sleep with this woman while I was unconscious!
I left the room in a rage, and then I found a necklace with an obsidian pendant in my pocket. It must belong to that woman.
I wanted to throw the pendant away, but then it occurred to me that she might be my mate.
Early the next morning, I asked Henry to go to the hotel room and bring the woman over. A few minutes later, the woman arrived, together with the Alpha and Luna of the Black Moon Pack.
"Dear Mr. Chavez, my daughter Gina was the girl in that room last night." The Alpha of the Black Moon Pack looked at me with fear in his eyes.
I glanced at the woman called Gina. She was plain with long brown hair and thin lips. There were freckles on her face.
Humph! She wasn't my type at all.
I didn't know what was wrong with my wolf.
I stood up and walked toward Gina, and then I saw her trembling slightly with nervousness. However, she didn't smell as good as she did yesterday.
Instead, her lemony body wash made me dizzy.
I couldn't help but take a few steps back. When our eyes met, she showed me a smile that she thought was beautiful.
Her eyes were filled with expectation and yearning, just like the other bitches who wanted to sleep with me.
"Okay, you guys can leave now," I said coldly to them and then saw their disappointed expressions as expected.
After they left, Henry came up to me. "Blake, you shouldn't have asked her to leave," Henry said.
"I didn't have any feelings for her. She can't be my mate. Did you notice the way she looked at me? It's disgusting." I shrugged.
"I understand, but you need a mate." Henry gave me a meaningful look and said, "Or rather, the Council needs you to have a mate."
"You're right. Henry, get them back." I nodded to Henry.
