CHAPTER SIXTEEN
MEXICO – SEPTEMBER
The old steam engine, pulling ancient cars, made its way through the mountains of Sonora, Mexico, loaded with peons who had crates of chickens, pots, pans, and all kinds of merchandise purchased at the border. Maria and Jesus pushed their way through the crowded cars and at last shared the rear platform where Jesus spoke in a loud voice to be heard above the click-clack of the train wheels.
"What makes you think you can trust this man Flynn?"
After a thoughtful pause, Maria responded. "Inside, I have a very good feeling about him, but even if I didn't, I have no choice. He was the only one who answered my ad. It seems that if treasure can't be found by planes or trucks with a lot of high-tech equipment, nobody is interested."
