Secrets -- Hardball

Once she was back inside her own home, she headed to the bedroom to find something to throw on.  It had been so long since she had been out, for a few minutes she just stood in front of her closet trying to decide what to wear.  She chose a simple white V-neck, some jeans and a pair of blue and white sneakers.  The watch she wore was the same color blue that was in her sneakers.  She donned a royal blue fitted and sprayed on some Polo Black cologne.  She walked down the steps and opened the door to find Giselle standing on her porch looking like an exotic princess.  She wore a simple white halter dress, with clear wedge heels.  Her hair was piled on top of her head bringing attention to her delicate jawline and collarbone.  The dress dipped down into the swell of her cleavage, giving her a mouth-watering sight. Skye shook herself from staring at her and smiled.  “You look absolutely gorgeous.”  She said as she stepped onto the porch closing and locking her door.     “Well thank you, you look pretty gussied up yourself,” She replied as she blushed.  Skye laughed to herself, realizing that the term had to be a compliment. She placed her hand at the small of Giselle’ back and led her off the porch and into the driveway.  She opened her door and Giselle blushed even harder.  “Thank you,” She said as she slid in and put her seatbelt on.  She closed her door and hopped in and started to back out of the driveway.  Skye immediately noticed that car from earlier was parked at the end of the block just sitting there with its lights off.     “Giselle let me ask you something.  Do you have any crazy ex-boyfriends that may have followed you up here?”  Skye asked as they pulled down the street.     Her blush deepened.  “No, I don’t have any ex-boyfriends to be deranged, Skye.”  She said as she turned on the radio.     Skye opened her mouth to respond but closed it as she thought otherwise.  Either Giselle was a virgin, or she was a lesbian either way her turning on the radio left her to let her own thoughts wander.  They headed towards downtown where the nightlife would just now start to rev up.  Giselle sat in the passenger seat moving to the music and looking out of the window.     “Have you explored the town at all?”  Skye asked as she turned the volume down a bit.     “Not really, I used my navigation to get here.  I know how to get from the house to my business.”  She said jovially.     “What are you doing tomorrow?  If you are free, I can show you around town.”     “That sounds like a great idea. That is awfully sweet of you to do that for me, so my way of saying thank you how about I make you dinner tomorrow night.  A nice home cooked meal before you go back to work Monday, how about that?”  She said as she smiled.     Skye thought about it for a second, she cooked okay herself, but she had not had a nice home cooked meal in months.  “What kind of meal are we talking about?”  She asked.     “How about I make you some collard greens and neck bones, macaroni and cheese, fried chicken, yams and cornbread with a nice pie for dessert?”   She replied as she smiled     Skye’ mouth dropped open and she could have sworn she would have started to drool if she hadn’t regained my composure.  “How does eight o’clock sound?”     “It sounds like we’re having dinner tomorrow night?”  Giselle said as she clapped and sat back in her seat.     This woman was putting Skye in some sort of trance, in less than twenty-four hours she had already wedged herself into her personal space, and she had no qualms about it shockingly.  She was not bad company, and she was most definitely easy on the eyes.  They reached downtown in less than thirty minutes; you could see the bright lights and people outside of the various bars and clubs conversing.  Skye pulled into one of the bars that she frequented often.  When they stepped through the door it was as if everyone got quiet and stared at Giselle.  As quiet as she was wherever she went she commanded attention without even trying.   Stepping to the bar the bartender greeted Skye by her given name.     “Evening Skyelar, what can I get for you and your beautiful friend here?”  Mack asked.     Giselle turned and smiled mouthing Skyelar to me.  Skye knew that she was going to say something about her name.  “Let us get two shots of Hennessey, Mack,”     “No problem, Boss,” He said as he walked away to make the drinks.     “So, your whole name is Skyelar, that’s a really unique name.  I like it.”  She said as she sat down on the bar stool.     “Well thank you.”  Skye replied as she sat down next to her.     Mack came back sitting the drinks in front of them; Skye reached into her pocket, pulled out her wallet, grabbed her card and handed it to him.  “Go ahead and start a tab, Mack.”  He took the card, nodded and walked off.     “So, tell me about yourself, Giselle.”  She said as she sipped from her glass.     Giselle blushed and sipped from her glass.  “Well I’m an only child, my father died a couple years ago in a tractor accident.  So, it was just me and my mama at the farm.  I did not want to leave her but when my products started doing well, she pushed me to move up here to make a name for myself.  She was just so down after daddy died; I worry about her constantly.  They got married when she was sixteen.   I want the love my parents had.  He treated mama like a queen up until he died, that’s what love really is about never giving up.”     “Well I’m sorry about what you’ve been through.  I know it is hard I lost my father at an early age.  Have you called and checked on your mother since you’ve been here?”  Skye asked.     “Oh yes of course, we spoke earlier before I came to use your shower.  She was worried about me asking a stranger to use their bathroom, but like I told her you seem nice.  I didn’t feel that there was a threat.”  She took another sip.     “Well I don’t blame her I would have been concerned about that myself.  Luckily, she doesn’t know about the neighbors watching you.”     “No, that most definitely would not be any news for her to know.”  She said as she started to laugh.   They sat there for the next couple of hours drinking and getting to know each other.  Giselle was from one of those small towns where everybody knows everybody and everybody’s business.  This city was nothing like where she was from and Skye needed her to understand that.  The trust that she had for people needed to be curbed a bit. It was time for them to explore some more. Skye signaled Mack so that she could pay the bill. Between the two of them, they had put away at least a whole bottle and Giselle did not even seem tipsy. When Mack walked up, she reached into her purse and handed Mack a crisp one-hundred-dollar bill. He looked at Skye out of the corner of his eye as he took the bill and handed Skye’ her card. Giselle grabbed Skye’ as she hopped down off the bar stool.    "Come on let’s go," she said as Skye stood up.   As Skye and Giselle walked out of the bar, Skye looked through the window as they walked by and saw Mack through the window holding up Giselle’ change. Skye just shrugged as did he and dropped the change into his tip jar.   Giselle was focused on a bar across the street that had some nice music coming from inside. She had just stepped off the curb when a car revved its engine and came flying right at her. Skye never even hesitated. Quickly stepping forward, she grabbed her around the waist snatching her back into her body and onto the sidewalk.  The car just barely missed her. They were knocked back from the force of it passing by at a high rate of speed. Skye landed on her back and Giselle landed right on top of her.
