320 Words
Piatt and Leroy did not believe him. But all they know is they’ve been hired to set up preparations for the upcoming festival at the pyramid. They are going to be paid handsomely, for what they believe is in exchange for their silence regarding the death of Sandra’s brother. And to be under her bidding until the festival’s over. But, given how fast everything moves around them, and the constant unanswered questions, the two had develop a stomach for uncertainty. The pair had learned to settle in with this feeling of uneasiness. They remained nonchalant and brushed it off. They continued to have small talk with Jack, who enthusiastically seemed to be into the job.He claims he’s guy that likes parties. And a religious one, to add. After a few minutes of off-roading in the jungle they’ve reached the first touches of civilization once more. The dirt road, that led them eventually to the outskirts of town and into pavement offered a breathe of fresh air. Even though the two had only been outside of town for a day, it seemed like a long time. Leroy lit up as he saw town once more. While Piatt and Jacked continued to talk ideology, or some other topic, Leroy did not pay attention to. Around the same time, Margo and Lyn were having breakfast at home. Instant ramen and some fried eggs. The air was heavy around them. But, mid-way through their meal, Lyn broke the silence. “ I know what you’re thinking. I’m still going through with this.” “ I know. But do you think it’ll solve anything?” “ We’ve done things the right way, and see what happened. They took my scholarship away.” “ I’m sorry. You know how powerful those pricks are. I’m just afraid of what they will do next.” “ Regardless, I won’t let them slide for what they did to me.”
