“ Identity theft is not a joke! Millions of families suffer every year!” Lyn burst into laughter during the whole sequence. She looks at Margo, who’s just watching the show, usually, she’d have the same reaction; even though they’re on their third re-watch of the series. “ Hey, you good?” Lyn nudged to her Margo’s side of the couch.
“ You’ve been like this since we got home? Tell me, what’s up?”
“ I’m- just worried about you. You, signing up for the auditions tomorrow. And knowing you, you’d pull some sort of stunt just to get back at your instructor.”
Lyn was staring at her perplexed. “ s**t, did I said that?” Lyn smiled. “Yuppers.” Margo, palmed her forehead and apologized. “ I didn’t meant it. Just a lot’s happening.”
Lyn Smiled and gave her a hug. “That’s why you’re friend. You always tell me what I needed to hear. but I’m fine, okay? I really want to do this, and I need your support.” Margo looked at her. “ Of course, -just worried, that’s all.”
“ Hey man. I was just making a cup, want to have coffee?” Leroy offered. Piat, who was leaning against the pyramid’s wall, just outside, looked at him and nodded. Then resumed his stargazing. He had never seen, such so many stars before. Leroy, stared at him for a second. He realized that all those months working at the college, he had never really actually known someone that well. And during the past few days, in his minds of minds, Leroy now considers Piat as his friend. And hopes that he thinks the same way to.
“ Hey do yo-” He stopped himself, and assumed Piatt wanted his coffee black. He did not want to get in between him, and his stars. Leroy made his way to their makeshift mess hall. And to his surprise, they were pretty well stock on supplies, but a part of Leroy feared that they’ll be staying in this rock for quite some time. He shook it off, and proceeded to find mugs for them. There was already hot water in the thermos, so all he had to do was find the coffee mix. And it proved to be a challenge.
A flushing of water came from the makeshift bathrooms, he’d rather not think of the logistics of plumbing in there. The door opened, and jack came out, only draped with his robes.
“ Can’t sleep?”
“ Yeah. Hey, where do you guys keep the coffee.”
“ Oh,just inside that cabinet, behind the cans.” Leroy followed where Jack pointed, and it was there. He could have sworn he had looked under there, but there was no coffee.
“ Thanks.”
“ Hey, you’ll soon get used to this place. The first night’s always rough.” The thought of him, getting used living in a place like this bothered Leroy to his core.
“ Thanks, just being in this place just feels…wrong.”
“ Ha!, I know what you mean. Well, I’m going to bed, see ya tomorrow.”
Leroy, handed Piatt the cup, and sat next to him. Piatt inspected his coffee and took a sip. “ Thanks.” Leroy took a sip from his as well. “Can’t sleep?” Leroy looked at the sky. “ Yeah”
The two shared a moment of looking at the foreign night sky. No one talked for the most part. Leroy, still processing what was happening behind him, feared for the worse. He longed to back to his life a few days ago. He missed being a bystander. He missed his bed. This was a feeling he had not felt ever since the first time he started his life on the island. All Piatt could ever think about is his family. And for the first time in a long time, he finally let himself to miss his daughters.
They can’t shake this odd feeling of nervousness, excitement and fear all in the same time. They knew that whatever happens tomorrow, changes them forever.
