Crow “Chloe?” My voice sounded loud in the quiet house. And it was deadly quiet. The bed next to me was empty. Empty and cold. The side were she usually slept was barely touched. It was obvious that she hadn’t slept there. Reaching out my hand I let it slide along the cold sheets. She definitely hadn’t slept there. No one had. I didn’t want to panic yet, not when there could be a perfectly good reason why she didn’t come to bed. Maybe she was too drunk. Maybe she had such a good night that she wasn’t able to climb the stairs. Sitting up right I grinned. That was most likely it. I would go downstairs and she would be asleep on the sofa.
