It was a strange ride back. She clung to me like a baby monkey but there was a distance there as well.
By the time I pulled up in front of my house the sun was starting to peek up above the horizon.
I was tired, my whole body aching but I knew it was nothing compared to what I knew Chloe must be feeling.
“Home.” I pulled the helmet from my head , waiting for Chloe to get off. She didn’t.
Instead she sat there her cheek against my back.
“Baby we are home.” I tried again.
“I know.” She whispered. “But Ty will be getting up and I ….” Her voice stuttered to a stop. “I still have blood on me. I tried to wash it off but….”
