Chapter 15Sitting in the dark with a thousand strangers was just what Jimmy McSwain needed. No one knew him, not his troubles or what ailed him, and for the next two and a half hours, he could leave them all behind, too. He was sitting in the back row of the Calloway Theatre, in the aisle seat alongside Wellington Calloway, who had staked his entire reputation on this show, including the decision to allow the playwright to take over the leading role. Both men were curious to know how it would go, Welly from a financial and creative approach, Jimmy just hoping Casey Crais made it through the performance alive.
There was still a murderer lurking somewhere.
Jimmy gazed about the auditorium, looking for anything out of the ordinary. He shifted in his seat, on edge.
