Chapter Twenty-Four “You didn’t say two words all through dinner,” Chase said. He had rested his hands on Rose’s shoulders where she was sitting outside in the dark on the back deck. She’d needed a minute to sort out her feelings about Chase, Billy Jo, and the fact that she was out there and couldn’t hide anymore. She could feel the moment he was going to pull away, and she reached back and rested her hands over his, feeling his wrists, just holding on. She didn’t want him to pull away.
