CHAPTER THIRTEEN They shared a pleasant lunch in a pub nearby. McNamara enjoyed his shepherd’s pie, which he confessed to having missed during the time spent on the continent. It seemed that they did not quite manage to prepare it correctly down there. Claire and James chose steaks, explaining to the Chief Inspector that they had already had the pie the day before. Besides, James needed something more heartening for lunch to be able to face his boss. However, during their shared meal, McNamara even managed to make Claire and James burst into laughter a few times, entertaining them with stories from his honeymoon.
