CHAPTER FOURTEEN James, followed by Claire and McNamara, stopped in front of the door of Walsh’s house. He knocked loudly on it several times, but no one came to open it. At the house across the street, a shaky hand pushed the curtain aside with a slow movement. A moment later, the curious eyes of an older woman peered outside stealthily. The person stared with vivid interest at the three strangers who insisted on raising the hell at the house on the other side of the road. “I am afraid we have company,” McNamara whispered, leaning over toward James.
