Still reeling from the DS’s insensitive attitude, Claire followed him, knowing that she could not deny his order to attend the interviews with the witnesses. Until McNamara returned, James was the boss, unfortunately.
Soon the two witnesses came in sight, and Claire looked at them from a distance. Suddenly, she wondered why the two men had been allowed to congregate together.
Jo should have known better. A detective could never permit people to put their stories straight before an interview.
Claire hurried to catch up with James, determined to ask him why he had not pointed out that thing to Jo.
“Hey, James,” she drew near him, slightly out of breath. “Shouldn’t those two men have been kept separately?”
