James did not have a good night, quite the opposite. He slept very little, and his sleep had been fitful.
The morning did not seem to get better either. It was not even six when James woke up, even though he had fallen asleep long after two a.m.
The thought that Claire had refused to go home with him still gnawed at him. When he offered to go with her, she had declined his offer.
Of course, the man had tried to persuade her. He had grown very fond of waking with her at his side in the morning and was sure that her presence in his bed helped him rest better. The night that had just passed proved that point.
