CHAP 10

"Good morning, Señior," Valjerome's staff politely greeted him as soon as we entered the company. I saw how their eyes analyzed me when they looked at me, examining my presence beside their boss as if it were something unusual. Others simply murmured among themselves, perhaps because they had seen the news about us. Valjerome didn't bother to greet them back. He just continued walking as though he hadn't heard anyone. I quietly followed him while Jaime and some of his staff walked behind us. I forced a smile and looked down at where I was walking. I hoped that, in a few seconds, he would officially introduce me to everyone in the company as his wife. Who am I fooling? I was about to think that he had only been jealous yesterday, which was why he announced our relationship. But I knew I would only be setting myself up for disappointment. He only did that to annoy Chaos. That's for sure. That's the truth. "Fvck!" His voice brought me back to my senses as his hand covered my forehead, protecting me from hitting the wall. I blinked several times as I stared at the wall I had almost walked into. I slowly turned to Valjerome, who was standing beside me. He looked at me seriously, though his eyes remained gentle. It was only then that I realized we were already in front of the elevator. "Be careful. Watch where you're going," he said calmly. I swallowed twice before nodding softly. He removed his hand from my forehead and gently took my arm, pulling me closer to him. "Is there something wrong?" he asked kindly. "Nothing. I'm just feeling a little unwell. I didn't notice where I was going," I replied with a forced smile. It was only half true, though. I could still feel the exhaustion and pain in every part of my body, especially my lower body. I had simply insisted on coming with him because somehow... I wanted to make the most of this time with him. A time when things weren't wrong, just unusually different. Valjerome stared at me for a few seconds before sighing. He pressed the elevator button, and I was surprised by what he did next. "V-Val," I stammered as I wrapped my arms around his neck when he suddenly lifted me into his arms. "I'm sorry. I was too rough with you last night," he apologized sincerely as he walked into the elevator. I looked away as I felt my cheeks warm. I simply leaned against his chest and hugged him gently. "It's okay," I murmured. I did like it, though. Minutes passed, and we finally reached his office. He carefully laid me down on the sofa. He stared at me for a moment before sighing. "Do you want to go home? I'll tell Jaime to take you home," he said. I quickly shook my head. "I'm okay. I'll just get bored at home." I secretly bit my lower lip because of my quick response. Go on, Jazzie. Make it obvious that you really want to be with him. "Okay. Do you want to sleep in my mini room?" My brows furrowed. "Mini room?" I asked as I looked around. That's when I noticed another glass door at the back of his office. "Is that where you sleep when you don't go home?" I asked. He simply nodded. I lowered my gaze and bit my lower lip. "Do you... sleep with your girls there?" I murmured. "Wife..." Valjerome called gently as he cupped my face and turned it toward him. "I've never let anyone enter my space here," he assured me. We stared at each other for a moment until I looked away. "I'll just rest here on the sofa. Do you have... any guests or business meetings today?" I asked hesitantly. Instead of answering, he took his phone from his pocket and dialed someone's number. "Cancel all my meetings for today," he said before ending the call. My lips parted, and I quickly stood up. I even winced at the sudden pain from my abrupt movement. "Why did you do that?" I asked, feeling both flustered and guilty. "Just rest, okay? I'll check today's blueprints," he said. "But—" He suddenly gave me a quick peck on the lips, stopping me from speaking. "Rest, okay?" he said softly. I could do nothing but nod in shock. He smiled and gently caressed my hair. I know it's a sudden change, but I can't help wishing... "Please... stay like this," I whispered. "HEY! You look like an i***t staring into space. Is there a problem?" Azy snorted, catching my attention. I looked at him through the vanity mirror while my stylists worked on me and smiled. "None. It's just that miracles have been happening to me lately." Days passed quickly. It had already been a month. One month since I gave myself to Valjerome. One month since the way he treated me changed. Even though it still felt strange, I allowed myself to get used to it and hoped that he was trying to fix our relationship. He didn't bring women home anymore. Moreover, he often slept beside me whenever he wasn't busy with the Mafia or work. It felt as though, after three years, we had only just truly become husband and wife. Even without a clear explanation from him, I held on to his actions. "You're glowing now, girl. Looks like Mr. Montevardo is really taking good care of you," Azy teased. I looked at him while trying hard not to smile. Yeah... he takes care of me now. "Well, it's nice that he lets you work now. I mean... this photoshoot with Mr. Chaos. Last time, he looked like a volcano ready to erupt from anger." Azy shivered dramatically as he hugged himself. I chuckled softly before slowly shaking my head. "Actually, he doesn't like this. He really doesn't want me to be here. I just insisted because of the contract," I explained. "I know it's my fault, but don't say it to my face, girl. You're making me feel guilty again," my manager, Azy, said. I just laughed. "Oh, go ahead. Just come outside once they're done with you. I'll check the props outside." Azy leaned closer and whispered, "If you don't want to give your husband away, that's fine. His enemy is mine. He's also yummy. He even has six fvcking packs." "Azy!" I exclaimed, embarrassed by what he said. He just kept laughing. Obviously, he loved teasing me. I pointed at him through the mirror and widened my eyes. "Calm your d**k down!" I hissed. Instead of getting offended, he laughed even harder. "On second thought, fine, Jazzie. You're just mine." He winked afterward. "You are pure nonsen—" "Then feel free to dig your own grave." Azy and I both froze after hearing a familiar voice from the doorway. I lifted my gaze and saw Valjerome standing there, coldly staring at Azy through the mirror's reflection. Azy's laughter died instantly before he slowly turned around. "I was just kidding with Jazzie, Mr. Montevardo." Both fear and nervousness were evident in my manager's voice. Although I wanted to laugh at his reaction, I focused my attention on Valjerome instead. "What are you doing here, Val?" I asked, confused. As far as I knew, he had a lot of appointments at the company, so I was surprised to see him here. Don't tell me... is he going to stop this shoot again? He adjusted his suit and walked toward me. Azy quickly stepped aside as Valjerome passed him. "I'm here to be your co-model." My jaw literally dropped. "W-What?" I repeated. Valjerome didn't answer me. Instead, he looked sternly at my manager. "I want to be in their shoot."
