"Valjerome, let me go! What? Where are you taking me?" I forcefully pulled my arm from his grasp.
We had just gotten out of the car when he immediately dragged me into the house. I could feel how firm his grip was on my arm.
He pushed me slightly up the stairs and pointed upward. "Go to your room!" His voice echoed throughout the house.
I could feel the fear of his assistants and staff. Who wouldn't? This was the first time he had ever been this angry.
"What is your problem?!"
"I said fvcking go to your room, Jazzie! Don't test my patience!"
I scoffed and laughed sarcastically. "Wow, you're really the one saying that. Do you think my head is cooling down because of what you're doing?!" I pointed at his chest. "You're acting like a jealous husband even though the truth is you don't care about me! Are you really this ruthless, Valjerome? You're making me dependent on you!"
I saw his jaw clench. We both gasped for breath from screaming while never taking our eyes off each other.
A few seconds later, he shut his eyes and sighed deeply. "Just go to your room," he said.
I shook my head, tears streaming down my face. As usual, he didn't answer.
"I will fvcking leave this house for a while," I whispered, then turned my back on him and quickly climbed the stairs.
I couldn't help but cry as I walked. In the few years we've been together, I have never been able to predict how he feels about me. Obviously, he doesn't care, but at times like this, I can't help but hope. Anyone put in my situation would believe in the illusion my mind has created.
I was about to open my bedroom door when someone pulled me back and pinned me against the wall.
I blinked a few times when Valjerome and I locked eyes. I could not read the emotion in his eyes, while mine were filled with shock.
Did he follow me?
"You are not leaving," he commanded, his voice hoarse yet authoritative.
The anger returned to my system. I tried to push him away, but he simply grabbed my hands and pinned them above my head.
"Let me go, Valjerome," I hissed.
"You are not leaving this house," he said.
I gritted my teeth. "And what? Am I supposed to put up with seeing you every day?"
"Why do you want to see anyone else? Tell me, and I will kill him this instant," he answered quickly.
My mouth parted in disbelief. "You're confusing me, Val. Big time," I stated.
He stared at me. "Do you really want to leave me?" he asked almost in a whisper.
I was at a loss for words and could not answer immediately. My earlier decision to leave for a while suddenly became uncertain.
"I-I will just... breathe..." I murmured, averting my face.
"You will still leave me," he said hoarsely, as if he were in pain.
I slowly looked at him. "I-I won't," I muttered weakly and swallowed when I realized how close his face was to mine.
The moment our eyes met again, tears threatened to escape my eyes. Just looking into those same hazel-brown orbs made me emotional.
The old Valjerome. He was the first man I had ever loved so much. The man I grew up with, the man closest to me, the man who cared about me.
The cruel Valjerome I had been living with ever since we got married was nowhere to be found in front of me. Overwhelmed by my emotions and longing for the man he used to be, I slowly brought my face closer, pressing my lips against his.
I felt his shoulders tense slightly before they relaxed again. He began to return my kiss, softly and hesitantly. His hand, which had been tightly gripping my wrists, gradually loosened until he finally released them. I automatically wrapped my arms around his neck and deepened our kiss. I felt him groan as he slowly pulled away.
"Take me..." I whispered as I looked at him drunkenly.
He licked his lower lip and shut his half-open eyes. "No, we should not do this," he said hoarsely, although I could sense the struggle behind his words.
"Should I just fvck another guy?" The words slipped out of my mouth out of frustration and the pain of his rejection.
Valjerome's eyes snapped open, and he shot me a sharp glare. The tension in his jaw did not escape my notice.
"Try, and I will kill him six times, cut up his body, and throw it into the deep ocean," he said indignantly.
"Then fvck me," I said, almost begging.
For the nth time, he shut his eyes. I thought he would reject me again, so I was surprised when he suddenly picked me up and captured my lips in a kiss. I wrapped my arms around his neck and my legs around his waist for support.
"It's making love, Jazzie. Not fvcking," I heard him whisper against our kiss.
I did not understand that yet and simply focused on returning his kisses. I could feel the heat spreading through my body as I felt his arousal pressing against me despite the layers of clothing between us.
"Val..." I called his name hoarsely as his kisses trailed down to my neck.
His touch was so gentle that it felt irresistibly tempting.
"Val, please..." I moaned with my eyes closed.
I held my breath when he licked my neck and sucked on it lightly. "Once we enter your room, there is no turning back, Jazzie."
"I want this. I want you," I replied.
I bit my lower lip when he sucked harder on the spot on my neck. "We're going in," he said before kissing me again.
I kissed him back as I felt him open my bedroom door. I couldn't even pay attention to him carrying me because I was too lost in his kisses. A few seconds later, I felt my back being laid on a soft mattress.
