"It's just so unfair," Azy murmured behind my back as the stylist straightened my hair.
I looked at him and raised an eyebrow at his reflection in the mirror.
"When we're stressed, our faces look ugly. But if you're as beautiful as you are, just a smear of foundation, boom! You're a goddess again," he stated.
I just rolled my eyes and ignored him. This would be one of those days when he would notice and criticize my every action.
"Are you okay?" he inquired. There was concern and seriousness in his tone as he stared at me through the mirror.
I forced a smile.
Am I okay?
"Yeah," I answered shortly.
It's been two weeks since that argument.
He didn't seem to believe me, but he never tried to ask any further.
"Ahmm. Will he...pick you up?" he asked afterward.
I didn't speak for a second. I had been nothing more than a ghost to Valjerome for almost two weeks. He no longer picked me up or came with me every time I had a photo shoot like he did before. Even at home, I could feel him avoiding me.
I simply sighed and forced a smile. "He's busy. He's taking care of something at the company," I answered.
It was only half true, actually. He's really busy, but with his girls.
My manager just nodded and didn't say another word. Only the movements of my stylists could be heard inside the dressing room. Even though he didn’t say anything, I knew he had also noticed something different about me recently.
"Azy?" I called his attention.
He looked at me and waited for me to continue. I averted my eyes for a moment and bit my lower lip.
"Si Chaos..." I started. "Did he call or message you?" I added.
His eyes widened and his lips parted after I said that. I'm not surprised anymore because it's really unusual for me to talk about that man.
"No," Azy replied, recovering from the shock.
"Did he...leave a calling card or something I could use to contact him?" I hesitated to ask.
Azy raised his left brow and crossed his arms. "Jazzie, seriously, what's your plan?"
I bit my lip and lowered my head. I played with my fingers and then looked up again at my reflection in the mirror.
"I want to do a shoot with him again."
This time, Azy's jaw literally dropped.
"Make an appointment," I said without any emotion, then stood up.
I started walking until I stopped by the door. I glanced at my manager and forced a smile.
"Even if it's free, I'll do it as long as we shoot together—just the two of us," I said and turned my back on them.
If this is the only way I can get my husband's attention back, I will desperately work with that person.
JUST like my normal photo shoots, I did every pose the photographer wanted. Even though I was not in the mood, I kept my professionalism at work. After all, modeling is one of my breathing spaces. I also don’t know why, but I really love modeling. Maybe because I can see my worth as a woman. In every beautiful photo I pose for, in every runway I walk on, I feel the admiration of others toward me.
Something I don’t get from my husband.
"Jazzie," Azy greeted me once the shoot was over.
I raised an eyebrow at him as he accompanied me to the dressing room.
"I called Mr. Hevion," I heard him say.
I stopped as I was about to sit on the swivel chair and turned to him.
Azy let out a deep breath. "He's asking you to come to his company. You have a shoot there today as well," he informed me.
I blinked a few times. I knew I had asked for this, but I didn't expect it to happen this soon. I cleared my throat for a moment when I recovered from the shock, then proceeded to sit down.
"Don't remove my makeup. What I need is a retouch," I ordered my makeup artist.
Azy was not too far from me, so I heard him sigh again. I looked at him in the mirror and gave him a raw smile.
"Tell him," I said.
Tell my husband that I am meeting up with somebody else.
"Jazzie, are you really sure about this?" Azy asked worriedly.
"Don't worry about me, Azy. I can handle it," I said.
I just want his attention.
Will I...even get it back again?
IT was around 2 p.m. when I arrived at Chaos' company with my manager and the glam team. His staff greeted us immediately and attended to our needs. Though I should have been looking for my partner, I wandered around to see if he had shown up. That's why my shoulders dropped when Chaos and I started our photo shoot, but I still didn't see Valjerome.
"Did you two break up?" my partner simply whispered.
I didn’t answer him and just did the poses needed for the shoot.
"I wonder why you asked for this," Chaos spoke again as I felt his hand caress my waist.
I looked at him coldly. "Stop," I warned.
He just smirked and licked his lower lip. "You're just using me to make him jealous, aren't you?"
I was caught off guard.
Is that really obvious?
He chuckled and moved his face closer to mine. The camera shutter clicked repeatedly as it happened.
"But...will he even get jealous?" he murmured. "Does he even love you?" he added.
I gritted my teeth despite the throbbing pain in my chest.
"I will use you to find out the answer," I said emotionlessly and pulled him by the nape.
I could hear everyone hold their breath as soon as my lips touched my partner’s mouth.
Valjerome... I mentally whispered and shut my eyes as Chaos started to kiss me back.
I was waiting for Valjerome to pull me away out of nowhere. I was waiting for a loud voice to echo throughout the room.
But...that didn't happen.
My husband didn't show up.
So...it really was all for show back then?
"Never cry over the wrong guy," Chaos murmured as I felt his finger on my cheek.
It was only then that I realized I was crying. I slowly opened my eyes and looked directly into his serious face. I struggled to give him a smile despite how heavy I was feeling.
"He's the right one for—" I couldn't finish what I was about to say when I suddenly felt dizzy.
Chaos quickly wrapped his arms around me to prevent me from falling.
"Jazzie!" I heard Azy shout as his footsteps approached.
"Are you okay?" Chaos asked. "Bring the medic!" he shouted afterward.
"My gosh! Jazzie, are you okay? I told you not to strain yourself," my manager said as I felt him fan me with his hands.
Despite my condition, my lips twitched because of what he said.
He said nothing!
I closed my eyes for a moment, then looked up again. I straightened myself and slowly pulled away from Chaos.
"I'm okay. It's just because of the heat, I guess," I said.
"Oh God! I'll cancel your appointment tomorrow. You need to rest," Azy said as he continued fanning me with his hand.
I smiled faintly at him. "I'm okay," I assured him.
"Are you pregnant?"
I paused the moment I heard Chaos' question. Even Azy stopped moving. I slowly turned my attention to Chaos.
"W-what?" I blinked twice as I stared at his stern face.
"Are you pregnant?" he repeated.
I knew I had to answer no, but that was when I realized and remembered my situation as a woman.
I hadn't had my period this month yet.
I swallowed the lump in my throat and composed myself. "I-I'm not..." I answered. "Sure about that," I continued in a low voice and bit my lower lip.
"You should go home and take a rest. Make an appointment with an OB," he said.
I was beside myself as I nodded at the thought that there might be a little angel forming in my womb.
Can this bring us back together?
SILENCE remained as I rode in the car. I noticed Jaime, Valjerome’s driver, taking glances at me as he drove. Maybe he was also wondering about my actions.
"Can we...go to the pharmacy?" I asked awkwardly.
He glanced briefly in the rearview mirror and nodded in response.
I bit my lower lip and looked outside the window as I held my belly.
Are you there?
After buying what I needed, I went back to the car. I could feel Jaime staring at the paper bag I was carrying, but he didn't bother to ask.
Finally, we reached home. I immediately got out of the car and went inside. I was so shocked when I saw Valjerome in the living room, sitting and facing directly toward me.
Nothing had happened yet, but my heartbeat started racing.
"Y-you're here," I said.
"Are you sick?" he asked seriously.
I don’t know why, but I wanted to cry at that moment. I felt so emotional that simply hearing him ask about my condition made me feel overwhelmed.
"I'm fine," I replied.
"You stopped by the pharmacy?" he said.
I bit my lower lip and nodded.
"What did you do there?" he inquired again.
I gripped the paper bag I was carrying tightly and gently focused my gaze on him.
"I-I think..." I whispered. "I'm pregnant."
