“It’s time you got yourself out there. Way past time.”
Warren and I sat by the pool. Soft clouds rolled by overhead, a gentle wind warmed our skins. Julia did laps in the water, her toned muscles rippling with each stroke. Arms extended, toes pointed, legs kicking, she made a point of keeping herself in shape. As a nurse she had to be able to turn a patient over in bed, or even lift one off the floor if no one else was around. And, of course, she wanted to endure the stringent tied up positions that Warren demanded of her, ties that he showed off to me from time to time with obvious pride. When I was lucky enough to see one and the intricate ropework involved, I knew I had a long way to go before I could even think that I approached Warren’s level of expertise. The co
