Car Ride

Joseph POV     “I’m not sure if we should have left her there. Do you remember the last time we left her?” My beautiful mate asked me. The memory brought a smile on my face as I remember coming back and finally turning my phone on with 139 text messages and calls from Tom informing that Ry had turned the pack house upside down. My second in command thought I should have given her a punishment because “If she were my daughter and acted like that I would...” He left his sentence trail off at the sight of Grace scowling at him. As beautiful as she is you should never want to be on her bad side. She has torn apart some she-wolves for looking at me for a little too long. “Yes, my love, I remember it as if it were yesterday.” Looking at her sideways in the car. She leaned over brushing her lips on my cheek, stirring my wolf.      Mmm. I can not wait for us to be out of this damned car so that we are able to ravish our mate, but alas we have another 7 hours. My wolf, Alabaster whispered in my head. As I looked back at the road thinking of different positions to put our mate in. As if he could read my mind I heard Cole clear his throat. Looking at him through the review window giving him a knowing sly smile. “I remember that. It was the worst! Rylieann was so angry she threw the biggest tantrums while you were away. My dad so sick of her attitude gave me the responsibility of making sure that she stayed in the pack house. Honestly, I almost threw her into the panic room.” He spoke looking out the window. His saying that made me chuckle. I always enjoyed the young wolfs company. I Grace turning her head to him. “Just out of curiosity, why didn’t you? I would have preferred that then my daughter ruining my brand new couch that I just picked out.” Graces’ Jade eyes lightened to let Cole know she was genuinely not angry. “I-I couldn’t do that to her. She-Well it’s not that I couldn’t do it to her because of morals or anything. She is surprisingly strong. It’s a good thing she doesn’t have her wolf yet. Or if you let her train she would be a beast.” Cole spoke sneaking glances at Grace and myself. Grace chuckled but I found myself being irritated my what he had said.      “You know why I do not allow my daughter to train. She I’ll end up being Luna of a pack if not our own. She has no need to fight because I know the.Moon Goddess will give her a strong mate. You know what she-“ “Love?” I felt my mates hand on my thigh calming me instantly. I didn’t realize how worked up I was becoming. I slowed the car because we were coming up on a semi trying to pass a semi. I looked back at Cole with his head still pointing at the window but I could feel him trying to sneak a peek at me. I took in a deep breath. I sighed it out. I didn’t like the idea of my little girl having to fight. She could be seriously injured or worse. She could end up dead. I loved her to much to let anything like that happen. I pray to the Moon Goddess everyday to let her mate be a strong Alpha one deserving of such a gem as my little Rylieann. “I didn’t mean to raise my voice. I simply do not want anything bad to happen to my little girl. I know every other pack doesn’t follow the old ways. Hell, I even changed some laws to accommodate with the new times, however this is something that I am sure that I will never change. She-Rylieann will be a great Luna. I am hopeful, when her wolf comes she will be calmer.” Grace looked at me lovingly. I knew that she and I disagreed on how to raise our little pup. Though this was one thing I just couldn’t budge. “Cole?” Grace turned around once again as I finally was able to pass the semi’s. Cole immediately looked at her. “Yes Luna?” I knew he respected her. Especially since Cole’s mother passed in a rouge attack. I knew he looked to her as a mother. “If you do not find your mate by the time you are 27. Would you consider having Rylieann as a choice mate? She would be 25 and you two have known each other for such a long time that if she doesn’t find her mate by that age I fear she will never find him. I know you would be a great alpha to our pack and that way when you two have little pups of your own we wouldn’t have to be so far away and we could see them.” Grace finished in a rush. I looked over at her ignoring the road for a moment. I could see little rose blush pop up onto her cheeks but she still did not look at me. She kept her jade eyes on Cole. Cole looked at Grace with confusion, frustration, and dare I say happiness? “Well Luna...I-“ the car began to vibrate as I began to steer a little to far to the right. Indicating that we were no longer in the lane properly. I snapped my head back to the road. Grumbling about what a question to just spring on the boy. I couldn’t believe Grace would ask. First off choice mates were a new concept. I didn’t like it. I waited for my mate as did my mother and father, grandparents, and you get the idea.      I’m not sure what mate is thinking but she isn’t wrong. They would lead the pack just as us and mate. I was annoyed that Alabaster thought the same as our mate. Yeah you never disagree with her on anything. I said back to him. Cutting him off. I peeked at Grace but quickly. I could see her eyes never left Cole’s. “You can think about it. If you find your mate at the gathering then please by all means ignore what I mean. If you ever find her then ignore me. I would never come between you and your true mate. Though again if it doesn’t happen within the twelve years I wouldn’t mind it.” She finally smiled at the boy. I could see he wanted to respond but Grace turned back around. I looked at her again mouth open to say something. Grace cut me off with a wave of her beautiful hand. Unintentionally wafting her scent my way. I took a breath and felt her hand in mine. “It’s alright. It is a long time away and more than likely he will succeed you love.” I knew she was right. I said nothing else and she turned the music up.      I knew she was right. Was Cole the alpha I had been praying to the Moon Goddess for. Since he was two years older that Rylieann. I knew we wouldn’t know until she got her wolf. I started to like the idea of the two of them together. Really you are okay with the two mating? I heard Alabaster snide comment floating around in my head. I unintentionally let out a small possessive growl. She was my little girl and as much as I loved Cole I didn’t want him laying any part of his body on her. I felt small circles begin to swirl on the back of my hand. I could feel my mates anticipation. I gave a happy smile at her. “Just stupid Alabaster putting certain thoughts in my mind.” She gave a small laugh as to know the thoughts that were floating around in my mind. Cole blushed and began to look out the window. This time putting in his AirPods. I laughed his actions. “I guess everyone knew what I was thinking.” This was going to be a long drive.
