Chapter Nine The two women sat quietly together waiting for news of the sick child. It seemed incredible to Cassandra that only a few weeks ago she’d been a sophisticated journalist in London. Now everything seemed so unreal, as she waited for news in a Greek hospital. It was two hours before a young bespectacled doctor came in looking for Katrina to report that Achilles was responding to treatment. However, the next few hours would be the testing time. They were hopeful that he’d pull through, as the disease had been caught early. As all this was spoken in Greek, and seeing Katrina burst into tears of relief, Cassandra feared the worst.
